My high school used the sliding panels a lot for our marching shows outdoor. They’re cheap/easy to make and you can simply buy new prints different years instead of new props. And like you said, the logistics are insane with them, it really took a couple years for the program to get it down. Also watching the stuff from the back isn’t necessarily awkward, since that’s usually where the performers get sent after you finish, so it’s like you get to watch the insides of someone else’s show and pick up on the little things, and the members experience, see the hand shakes behind the screen
