A few of these aren't really reads, and more lucky occurrences. The best reads imo are when the opponent is in hitstun. That way the player can properly predict to exactly what the opponent is going to be doing. Take 0:56 for example. Wario hit Joker, and instead of going for a followup, he charged F smash instead. He had a good feeling that Joker would be rolling in to escape a combo, and he got hit for it. Another great moment, the best read in this video, is at 1:16. Blue Roy attacks Green Roy, stands in a good position to punish, Green Roy airdodges in. BRoy attacks again, giving GRoy ANOTHER chance to escape, but he airdodges again and dies for it. 6:21 is another great one. Robin hits Falco, grabs him and down throws to get him above the platform. Falco air dodges. Robin READS the air dodge, wavelands onto the platform, grabs and up airs to get the kill. As for 2:53, Ganon is literally charging up smash and Joker falls right into it. There were lots of places he could go, but he went into it. Not a read, and more than likely, lag.

I think I made a read before: A few weeks ago, I was battling this Pokemon trainer main as my Dr.Mario main and at the start of the match(Dr.Wily's Castle, omega form stage) I got him offstage close to high percents(he switched from Squirtle to Ivysaur) and I Naired him then, I knew that Pokemon trainer mains would switch to Charizard to have an extra jump and use Flare Blitz deep offstage then use the extra jump or Fly so, I used the slight lag from the pokemon switch to my advantage to double jump and use Fair for the finisher. I unfortunately lost a stock in the process. Is that considered to be a 'read'?

@@grotto185 Ya, that's a read. You knew what the opponent was going to do, and you punished them HARD, even if you lost a stock in the process. I might actually try this against my brother, because he uses Trainer as well, and I use Isabelle.
