@JoriLindroth Logic dictates that what you wrote above means nothing more and nothing less than that Matti was often on alcohol (or acetaldehyde when he was hungover) Ergo? It basically means he was often jumping doped. Stop selling the romantic story about like this please! There is "a few" other arguments though enough to prove that he is the Legend, if you'd like to ask me. xd

@@kamilsoltysiak4249 Thanks for the great competition over the years. That's the great thing about ski jumping. There are many nations involved that create great ski jumpers. And hell those guys have balls of steel, going down the ramp at 100 km/h and jumping down a steep slope 140 meters or even 250 meters at the ski flying competitions. Respect to every single one of them.

@@18wind08 i know but it should tho. Absolutley nothing about ski jumping in Yugoslavia was anything else then Slovenian. All the jumpers, coaches, infrastructure and monetary investments were exclusively Slovenian. It was just under foreign entity. Its like saying that any sporting success in Norway or Austria during ww2(i know that there werent many but still...) should be atributed to Germany because they controlled the land. When it comes to team sports where you have mixed nationalities and stuff like that its another story of course

Swedish Jan Boklöv should have gotten more wins, if it wasn't for the judge points part of the sport. They giving him minus points for his revolutionary V-style, that made him go much longer than anyone else at the time, made him lose quite a lot of competitions.

The problem of this account is, that it doesn't bring the number of wins in relations to the number of competitions contestet. This should be taken into account as well, in order to make comprehensive estimations about individual athletes, as well as how long careers lasted and lastet so successfully. It's not so easy....

But thats a thing in all sports and records that you get more and more competitions over the years. Its also not so easily said that athletes of the 80s like Nykänen would withstand todays schedule that easily without having to take multiple breaks during the season as they were physically not so professionally trained...

One of those wins you counted as Czech Republic was from a Slovak ski jumper Martin Švagerko competing for Czechoslovakia. So I would suggest splitting all defunct states from their successors or ordering all those jumpers by nationality.

@@SzczepanPiotrowski Nie rozumiesz, jak działa profesjonalny sport. Im wyższy poziom, tym trudniej o dominatorów, bo poziom się wyrównuje a margines błędu staje się mniejszy. Dla mnie fakt, że Ahonen mógł balować między zawodami a i tak dawał radę, świadczy o tym, że obecnie jest jednak znacznie trudniej. Dzisiaj za minimalny błąd na progu/spóźnione odbicie lecisz o 10 miejsc do tyłu, a w czasach Małysza taki Martin Höllwarth nie posiadał nic poza mocnym odbiciem a i tak potrafił stawać na pudle.
