Can't believe you uploaded this today. I literally picked mine up from the p.o. 15 minutes ago! Came to youtube to look for some setup tips and saw this LOL! It's my first time setting up an elrs quad so it'll be a bit different. What a little ripper! Thanks for sharing this Nick.

I love this drone! It has an uart elrs receiver, blackbox integrated, powerful motors, bt2.0 battery plug, it comes with Bluejay installed and the charger is really fast, in 10min you have 2 lipos charged. It is a sweet! It is true that the vtx goes in a separate board, but the image quality is way better compared to other solutions :)

Heck yeah, I think this is the best power setup for whoops: 35mm props, 0802 19KKV motors, still ~65mm. You really showed off how great it flies indoors. I switched my Mobula6 2020 parts (with an external ExpressLRS RX of course) over to this Meteor65 Pro frame and props, 20.5g without a battery. I'd swear I get longer flight times **and** more power now. Don't need no 30000KV motors if your props are almost 30% bigger! Hope we see more BNFs spec'd like this.

I got one of these and while trying to adjust the camera angle down some I removed the canopy and antenna. Sadly trying to pop the antenna off, the UFL connector came off the PCB. I always make sure to lift with two fingers using my nails evenly on both sides and this is the first to have broke on me. I swapped a Happymodel OX303 VTX I had laying around on it, now all is well again. Got weight down to 21.4g and Quicksilver firmware on mine and it feels LOCKED. My only better flying indoor quad now is my Fractal 75 with Quicksilver.

There is much to a full response to this question. 1. The protocol must match on the radio and quad 2.If the protocol is ELRS, the ELRS version on both must match to the major version. Major version being the first number in the versioning. 3. "Easily" depends on experience, with the protocol as well as quads.

This is a perfect example of why would anyone buy that new Newbeedrone whoop when it is $160 and this new BetaFPV whoop is only $110 with an easy to get 5% off from BetaFPV's website? Newbeedrone gear is overpriced and ridiculous, really, because it's not a good whoop, and this one schools it for 50% Less Dough! Good for BetaFPV for being innovative in ways that we care about and that work! A really good value in my book! 😎🤘 Nick, you are a MASTER PILOT! It's incredible the speed you get inside your house!!! Mind blowing. 😵💫🤯💯 PS No reason to have outdoor footage of a whoop. Indoor is where it's at, and I certainly wouldn't hold up a review for outside flying of a whoop. IMO, I'd rather have your commentary and opinion, in a concise 10 minute review, than have all this flight footage and a longer review. Seems everyone's FPV videos are getting longer and longer, when 10 minutes or under should be a goal. 🤔🤷

@@NickBurnsFPV No apology needed, Nick. Just suggesting what I think gets people more views, especially to the end, and makes it more enjoyable for viewers. IMO, you post way more flights than need to be seen. Just one is fine because you do a full flight from take off to landing. We don't need any more than that. And, especially when reviewing a whoop, we don't need an outside flight AND and inside one. Just inside is great! I for one, love your breakdown of the 3 screw canopy, and reasoning behind liking 4 screws, the material the frame is made from and it being very flexible, the colors, what comes with the quad, and every other little tid bit of info you mention from seeing and flying so many of these quads. Those are the valuable parts to me...and I believe to others. Flight after flight is a great way to reduce the time. I jump ahead and skip 3/4 of the flight video, and get to your opinions and tid bits of great info - There's where the value really is at in all of your videos. Anything more than one full flight - that seems redundant to me. I get bored and skip it. Thought I'd let you know my opinion. A 20 minute review of a whoop does seem like a lot for most to stay tuned in for and watch the entire video. I know KZbin rewards you for a person watching all the way to the end. So much flying does me in, but all that info, that's where we strike GOLD! Thanks again for all you do for our great hobby!!! 👍

@@NickBurnsFPV Not in my experience. The local races in Indy/Cincy just let you run them all together. We've got 31, 35, and 40 all running in the same heats. The more serious races with money and prizes usually restrict you to 31 and 35 or just 31.

Most races DON’T have a prop size limit of 31mm. Half of the races will let you run 75mm whoops even if that’s what you have. It’s only the more established local chapters that might rule out 75mm in my experience. And it would have to be like a really established chapter where the race director just doesn’t like 35mm props in order for them to ban those. For the big races where you travel across the country to attend, it’s just race director dependent. Some race directors push back against 35mm whereas others embrace it. The weight of the frame and props almost are even with a normal 65mm build. And the physical size is almost just as close. So there’s not really any reason to ban it outside of feeling like it gives an unfair advantage. These races don’t ban Hdzero and that is a way bigger deal in terms of weight and potentially causing stress to the race director. And several HDZero racing pilots are actually moving to 35mm props as well. All that to say, it’s definitely kinda a toss up whether or not a race director will allow them. But there’s also no reason for them to not. And on top of that, I see people complain about how a typical 31mm prop 65mm whoop flies ALL the time. Increasing the prop size and getting better disk loading is just gonna help that. And especially now that the 4th Annual USAF Museum Race is this weekend, it’s been a topic among top pilots as well, as this race has always embraced and allowed 35mm props. Multiple Hdzero pilots are taking advantage of that and several of the potential podium finishers have said they’re either really thinking about using 35mm props or that they think it’s the better choice, but are gonna run 31mm props anyway because it’s what they’re used to, it’s what other big races require, or it’s just what they already have built. To me it seems many of the best racers have already acknowledged 35mm is a better choice for most circumstances, it’s just tradition holding them back. It’ll be interesting to see how long this tradition keeps 35mm out of some of the big races but I don’t think it will be forever. Especially since some of them already allow it. But even now, unless you’re looking to travel across the country for a big race, you most likely will be allowed to run 35mm props at any race you attend.
@NickBurnsFPV Жыл бұрын
Really great whoop racing information. I really appreciate it. I am a bit surprised as well. But if the races allow 35mm and your a 31mm flyer and feel 35mm is an advantage, well time to change or just absorb the thoughts of an advantage not taken advantage of.

I don't know if I would be better going with this meteor 65 pro or the Cetus X kit. The Cetus X has more power (2s), but it seems not to be as agile as this one. I'm a beginner and this would be my first quad, I've considered also the emax tinyhawks and geprc tinygo kits, but they're not as easily accessible as the beta FPV drones (they are officially sold in Amazon) I want a indoor racing whoop but I would really appreciate it being capable of doing freestyle outside, I would buy some extra batteries (idk if 300 mAh can replace the 450mAh that come with the RTF kit)

Often when we get started and if we enjoy fpv we will build or buy several more :) with your comment I suspect the cetus might be a better option as it is one of the few sold on amazon, should be fairly durable and outdoor capable. Maybe they will get inspired to release a V2 😄
@NickBurnsFPV Жыл бұрын
Yes, there was that 65mm 35mm prop whoop a while back. I do believe that one actually measured 65mm. I used that one in a few videos. The frame was so compact I am not sure another board we have available would fit.

I had an older one and it was very brittle and broke several of the fan guards and canopy!

That sounds like the previous iteration of canopies. They broke like empty egg shells.

Thanks gif the great video Nick! I have the TBS version and I love it. I purchased it about a month ago. The surprising thing that I found when I received it is that it is delivered with BetaFlight 4.2.9 and not 4.3, which is what I expected to be delivered with. I went on the BetaFPV support site and the only version that they deliver with BetaFlight 4.3 is the ELRS version. I assume that you don’t have a TBS version of the 65 Pro (2023) on BetaFlight 4.3 CLI/Tune that you could share? Thanks.

can i use LiteRadio 3 for this drone? what Goggles are you rocking? Great content!

Yes, we do have to make sure the radio and the quad are running the same receiver protocol, in most cases expresslrs and the same major version like version 3.

Hey Nick. Great content. I started FPV earlier this year with a Mobula 6 ELRS. I've put a ton of cycles on the packs and the wear is beginning to show - flight times are much shorter and the voltage drop can even cause complete power loss until I plug/replug the pack. Flight performance has also become somewhat frustrating with inconsistent throttle response as the flight progresses. Should I just replace the PH2.0 connector with a BT2.0? Or, perhaps replace the Mobula with the Meteor65? I only have 8 PH2.0 packs, so not much of a loss there. Also, typically, how many cycles can you expect to get out of a 1S pack before it needs replaced?
@NickBurnsFPV Жыл бұрын
Yes, if you have many flights the ph2.0 is likely wearing out causing those symptoms. If you do have the option and budget might want to investigate switching to bt2.0. We have yet to find at what point those wear out.

Nick off subject, but a while ago you recommended a glue you use that bonded really well, I had some but the tube was almost empty and got throughout before I reordered... Can you help me out? Thank you. Don Dupuis
@NickBurnsFPVАй бұрын
That was likely welder adhesive. But its been pulled from the market for some reason. I next suggest using E6000 or B7000
@dondupuis4007Ай бұрын
@@NickBurnsFPV Wow, I Rea Lynliked it, pulled one of the small plug of my whoop video connection, glued it back on with the Welders adhesive, and it actually worked and I was able to update my Walksnail system, like it because it does harden unlike 6000, haven't tried 7000. Maybe a welders expoxy you mix will work, will try a few.. Thanks. I knew I should of got more than one tube😀 I do get the 6000 in the mini tubes, so they never harden up after use, and if they do, I don't lose a big tube.. Have a great day… Don

@@dondupuis4007 I tried to find a source but everywhere online was out of stock. I also looked at my local hardware stores. I still have about 1 and 3/4 tubes, I haven't tried the alternatives much, just recommendations from other whoopers.

No need to take a 65mm outside. What are your thoughts on higher KV motors, 25,000kv to 30,000kv? I find higher kv on bi-blade props flys noticeably better.
@NickBurnsFPV Жыл бұрын
I would need to do more back to back testing. I am not certain I have a preference on equal quads. On higher kv I might have a stronger preference one way or the other, I haven't done enough back to back testing to know with any certainty.

Hi Nick, thx a lot for your review:) I flew my tinyhawk 2 a lot indoor in acro mode but looking now for something more powerfull so that I can also learn to make flips and loops indoors. Did you think that the new meteor65 pro quad will be good for that purpose? Or should I better order an mobula 6 with 25kv motors ? thx a lot for your feedback:)
@NickBurnsFPV Жыл бұрын
I think this would be better than the mboula6 with 25kv motors.

Hi Nick! I know that you prefer race tiny whoops, but have you any ideas which has better handleability for indoor freestyle?
@NickBurnsFPV Жыл бұрын
often if freestyle means tricks we want higher kv motors. many are moving to high kv 25000+kv and bi blades for the quick prop response.

@NickBurnsFPV Жыл бұрын
@@MikeRM399 The new firmware Frsky isn't compatible with most whoops. Expresslrs is far more popular. Thankfully an expresslrs module could be added to the xlite. The R9M can even be modified to run expresslrs, but I haven't done it or really investigated it much.

Since I built my 2" 2S I have no desire to fly my 65mm whoop (with 31mm props) anymore. Maybe this could be the answer. Also really good to see some non-SPI ELRS AIO options appearing.
