In fact, all my other gear did to and I was blessed enough to be able to pick the bike up and ride away from that nice little slide into the gravel ditch. I am a die hard fan of the LS2 Strobe!

@Greg Myers What are you talking about?
@NibNibs2556 жыл бұрын
@Greg Myers Selling out? dude? what? because he'd recommend a non-full faced helmet? You do realise what motorcycles are right? yes it can be a cheaper alternative for commuting but ultimately? its all about what level of risks are you willing to take. While I personally will never wear anything but a full face, I won't judge people for wearing half-buckets, so long as they're wearing respectable gear alongside it. Some people just like having a half-face because it lets them converse more easily, they find it more comfortable with goggles and maybe a face mask. Biking is weighing the risks against comfort. Just because he showed off a good budget half-face bucket doesn't mean he's a sell out, he even stated that he wouldn't ride with the scorpion. As for his 'credibility' amongst youtube motorcyclists? uh ... do believe he's still rated highly by pretty much every motovlogger, and alooot of bikers in general because the tips he gives are solid and the reviews he does are cute, quirky an brutally honest. Just because you wont do it, doesn't mean there aren't riders who don't prefer open face buckets and just because they prefer it doesn't make them any less of a biker than you or lose respect. Just depends on if they're wearing T-shirts, shorts and sandals.

Only reason like I like this geek is because he is the absolute honest motorcycle dude that keeps it real on here. He'll tell a donated product they are shit if they are. And in a geek way, he'll convince you they are. At the same time, I've bought so much gear off his videos due his geek way of explaining why something is really good and convincing me why. FortNine saved my life due to his videos. Probably many other lives as well due to his advice. First to admit it but as always...keep an open mind and keep watching other vids.
@theguitarhero8986 жыл бұрын
Greg Myers He never recommended it. He is simply telling the public about gear which is significantly cheaper than their more expensive counterparts. That doesn't mean he is advocating us to wear it. He even says multiple times for half of these products that he wouldn't wear them due to safety issues. But hey, better to pay $150 for a deathtrap helmet than $500.

It hasn't been revised in 2017 as far as I know, but the Scorpion VX-15 Evo Air is an excellent choice for off road use. I've gotten my hands on a 2013 model, which has quite a special paint job that was made especially for Honda/Husqvarna paint schemes. It weighs around 1350g, has excellent venting, but stays surprisingly quiet, even when used on open roads. Reasonable design choices were made to allow for great functionality, such as the Air Pump system, which reduces noise and makes the helmet more snug and thus more safe. I paid 130€ for it and ordered a pair of 100% Racecraft Extra goggles with it, which cost 70€ extra. Couldn't be more happy to have spent some extra time on research :) Great video, though. Just as always, Ryan! Much love from Germany

I wear modulars, but a full face never again.Want to say something to your buddy at a red light, forget about it, unless you both have communication systems. Want to grab a snack, or something to drink while filling up at the gas station, which requires you to also go in and talk to the attendant, all require removal of a full face. I generally never take my helmet off unless I'm stopping for a meal, break, etc. And having recently tried a 3/4 helmet, they are much cooler and more comfortable when it's hot out, and their peripheral vision is better.

Talk about the LS2 Pioneer! It was cheaper when it first came out, but it's still a crazy low $160 or so. It's loud, it's a little cheap in some areas, and it's probably not the most protective thing in the world, but you get drop down sun visor, fog resistant lens, LOTS of ventilation, actually really good highway aerodynamics, VERY LIGHT, goggle compatible with the visor down, comfortable to wear glasses with, quick release strap, removable liner, a large peak that really cuts out the sun, ridiculously awesome styling, and the head shape is actually more intermediate oval rather than long oval like they advertise. Only things that could really make it realistically better would be a chin skirt, detents for the visor, and better communications cut-outs.

This video is almost 2 years old, but i'm hoping you will still see the comment. How do you compare the HJC DS-X1 and the Bell MX9 adventure? I can't decide between the 2 because they are very similar in price. A store owner told me he prefers the HJC for comfort and construction. It also has speaker cut outs which I like for my blu tooth. The MX9 is widely recommended and has an ECE safety that the HJC doesn't.

The only underpriced helmet i found truely underpriced is the last one i bought. It's from Lidl (a german-based supermarket in de mid- to low-priced tier that also carries some clothing, sporting and household items) where i paid about 60 euro's (i think something like 70-80 usd) for an overengineered flip-up helmet that sports a removable liner with included replacement pads (with a slightly snugger fit, although my L-sized head fit both liners fine without feeling too loose or squishy), pin-lock pins pre-installed and even a pin-lock 30 screen included, flip down sun-visor with button lock and easy outside controlls on the left bottom side, chin screen to keep out the wind and those cannally spaces in the side of the liner to fit glasses into. To be honest, it was supposed to be a back-up to keep me riding while my brother looked for a new helmet to replace his HJC flip-up that didn't have enough space for his glasses, but i have been very surprised with the quality i got from this helmet. It isn't as quiet as the HJC helmet but with an ECE certification and all those features for that money i can barely get myself to buy that HJC helmet from my brother when he eventually finds a helmet for himself 😅

Just a bit of clarification on the Bell Qualifier. According to SENA Australia, the mounting system said to work with the qualifier was actually developed for the bell Mag 9. Because of this the mount does not fit snugly enough to satisfy safety of the SENA 10 or 20S and to include the mount is sort of a moot point, i was totally ready to go all out on this helm and i don't blame Ryan or anyone who did the research on this video. Just thought id update those who were just as happy as i was to have a nice custom fit coms unit before realising that you cant even find it on the SENA website or SENA Australia. Just on revzilla.
