Ok but on the other hand Biases and „feelings“ also means you might be more comfortable using those tools and if you’re not comfortable with a drone it can really hurt your flying even if the other drone might be better for the purpose

I exclusively fly the Avata with the dildo controller and I absolutely love just how unstressful it is. I mostly use it for smooth cinematic cruising and it's really relaxing. Position hold, panic button, RTH and just the sheer reliability of it is the star feature that sets this drone apart from any conventional FPV build

I love this drone. I fly with in manual most of the time, but I tend to spend a battery every session with the motion controller. Its wild how exciting going through a random patch of thick woods is to me in FPV with the motion controller or slaloming between trees or just soaring like a bird. I absolutely love the brake.

If you have the new goggles that come with the Avata, and the motion controller, you should give headtracking a try when it comes to "tracking" targets and stuff! It's pretty neat!

@@JerodBeeson I spoof my gps with Fake GPS, then disconnect the phone and reset my home point to where I'm hovering, so I still have the return to home feature. Then I just throw my phone in my bag and fly. A little inconvenient, but worth the peace of mind.

As a (mostly) non-professional who is only just starting to experiment with manual mode, the Avata is an absolute godsend: I can zip around and capture incredible footage in Sport mode, and even Normal mode lets me do capture some great shots, especially indoors.

I watched this when it came out but gotta say so true. Helped a whole lot verifying some raccons on my roof ive handled by now. Very weird for a second but the latency is so much better than one of my first amazon drones used with a phone i realized there still is potential with the right gps drone indeed.

I LOVE the Avata. I didn’t want anything to do with that motion controller . I didn’t want it. But now I love blasting around with it , and head tracking sometimes . I really wish someone made a stabilized fpv drone like that, that WASN’T bound by Geofencing .

I bought the avata solely to use it professionally. Mainly fly throughs. I have the rates way down, in some environments I find gps mode to be useful, hell I did a real estate fly through with the motion controller. It's been pretty solid for me. I use the "bad idea mount" for GoPro footage and it flies fine. I just avoid trying to hardcore freestyle that damn thing, after trying it in the beginning, I quickly realized it's not designed for that style of flying.

I loved my Avata, that is until I crashed it twice, both time it flew off and would not brake, the 1st time it ended up in a foot os estuary water, the 2nd beating itself I to the ground for 9 seconds breaking itself and my SD card, DJI says my fault so there goes another care refresh in 4 months of my 2 years. I'm pissed, the fkr won't brake (disarm) it's something wrong like there was with the fast yaw spin drop from the sky. Just wanted to have a winge because I don't think it's my fault, yes I crashed but the fkr would not stop... please let it be known. And love your channel, you've taught me heaps for an old grandfather of 10 💪👍

One question: why use the GoPro and not the DJI Action 3? Love my Avata, and wish I had more time to spend discovering all its bits. Tried manual mode on the DJI Sim, but became very disoriented and didn’t feel well at all, so for now sticking to normal and sports. Still have to try head tracking.

Great flying, nice footage. I got the avata as a winter flyer so that I can flip into normal mode for a controlled landing “burnt out a couple esc’s landing in the snow.”Though it handles different than standard fpv drones I’ve come to enjoy flying it The only downside I find is geo zones. Like you say, it has become one of my go to quads

I really like the controllability of the avata with the controller. You can really creep into some tight spots with no fear of crashing. I run mine in sport mode all the time, 25 mph is fine for this machine and if I feel the need for speed I pull out my DJI fpv that has a top sparred of 95 mph with better props. Just under the FAA 100 mph spreed limit. I initially was upset with the added phone requirement for remote identification, but I did buy the avata for the remote certification so I can fly over assemblies or crowds if I need to.

Hey bro, great vid. I've been ripping 5" drones around while I learn.... then bought a protek 35 and was super disappointed with the battery life, as I want to shoot some real estate vids. So far as I've been researching, the Avata seems like the lil beast I need. Having horizon lock, being able to change camera settings on the fly, x3 battery life, being able to move the camera angle pitch... etc ect. I was never thinking on using it with the gopro, however when you said "update version to 10bit" (which is 100% what I'd want to do) to get the best quality, you mentioned it limits you. What are you referring to? Geofencing? I wouldn't know, I had a Mavic Pro 6 years ago, is there any way you can explain what limits a person may have when upgrading to those settings? In fact if you have time a whole vid explaining how to upgrade and all that jazz would be awesome, however I'm down for just a really good explanation if you have the time please and thank you kindly.

Do you have a set of non-upgraded batteries? I eventually upgraded my 2nd Avata because I noticed my batteries were getting updates needed to fly my 10 bit color/remote ID compliant drone. Did I screw up and not need to do that?

Can't wait to receive the controller to unlock manual mode. I find unfortunate they didn't keep the original spirit of the founder of the motion controller which allowed full control of the drone with it but that's DJI 's decision. Until I have the controller I find the drone a bit limited and awkwardly flying. I love the fact you can change gimbal angle on the fly without needing to have a screwdriver and I agree on your point for positional stay, i guess it can be very practical. Nice video thanks

I have been saying that about the position hold since it came out and of course I get that same old shit from rookies. “If you know how to fly blah blah”. Hovering and FPV drone is not Position hold. It comes in handy for changing camera setting and return to home options too.

I like it a lot that you stress the upsides even though you named the downsides as well. It's so annoying to have the "lovers" on the one hand kissing DJI'S a** and the haters ("It's no real fpv drone...") on the other. I haven't flown mine long enough to really say if I prefer it to a CInelog 25 HD with a naked GoPro. Both have their use cases and it's just having to decide which to take and charge...

I mistakenly updated the firmware on my avata and immediately regretted it, luckily there is a way to flash the firmware back to the older version using the drone hacks desktop app. Did it on mine no problem.

If you see the world championship cross cycling the two superstars stolen the show.. but everyone was talking about the fpv drone bring camera footage follow the cyclists. Using these features would be used more and more as there rolling in out in major cycling events

Used it for work last Friday, it did a great job. I was also finding it useful to switch to gps hold whilst waiting to take the last shot of the whole session. I try not to pay much attention to the BS. If it’s a good creative device that works very well to serve a purpose for me and has a decent camera, then its doing good in my book. Edit- forgot to add, it really does tumble though if you really push the yaws 😂 I just don’t do that with this drone.

hey, I bought the bad idea Avata mount. put on my GoPro hero 10. I experienced a lot of vibration in the playback on the hero 10. I know its a very heavy camera to strap on to the avata. Any advice on not getting vibration in the feedback?

Haven’t had any vibration. Make sure the screws are in the side where the GPS goes and the gopro mounted secure.
