Well done I inherited a 4 generation collection and have been researching them for five years my experience has been so interesting that I don’t believe anyone so your video was so refreshing for everyone selling rare stamps get it valued by the right people forget brokers I had one rare Amy stamp swapped by a broker in the beginning so don’t send stamps for there viewing just send photos. I have had hours and hours of pleasure studying this stamps and learnt so much. Nana Oz

What if my Scott 318 is on a postcard? Do I still get it certified with the post card? Thank you I like your videos sir very much

Yes you would submit it as it is, on the postcard. It could help with determining authenticity

So helpful. Keep them coming. I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why identical looking stamps range in price from $15,000 to $0.15. I'm not surprised to find out it's just scammers doing their thing, but then I'll see that same identical stamp in eBay's sold items selling for $500, $800. Is this also a scam? The scammer selling to themself so idiots like me will see that sale and think I'm getting a bargain paying $500 on a $15,000 stamp? The other common ones I'd love to see you cover are the 1960 5 cent Washington (I have 500 of these so I know they're not rare), the 1958 4 cent Lincoln, the 1923 2 cent red Washington... there are so many scams, it's hard to keep up. I also have a bunch of cut squares but haven't seen much value attached to them, high hundreds for something very rare and in mint condition. I'd be curious to hear your take on them. I just subscribed so I'll be following your content. I inherited a collection of 6000 stamps, about 10% from the late 1800s, 20% from 1900-1920 and I've spent the last two years going in circles trying to figure out the value - using my Scott guide and legit online auctions, not eBay, but every once in while I'll come across stuff like this Ben Franklin stamp (I have four, so I'm down a half million thanks to your video, jk). Hopefully, after watching all your videos and the ones yet to come I'll be able to land on a realistic value of my collection.

Thanks for sharing. As for post 1930 material it’s all worth face value if unused, nothing if used (with the exception of a few issues). The best thing would be to post some photos of stamps in question here stampcollectors.us/collectors-forum-board/us-stamp-values/

Okay so no variation on design only those differences on edges that you mentioned. Putting the stamp on perforated stamp maybe shows if perforation is cut or not.
@ThatStampGuy2 ай бұрын
Putting a stamp on a perforated one is not a good method because overall stamp sizes can vary greatly. For example compare a jumbo margin stamp with a normal version.

if i send a stamp in knowing i did not alter it and they said its fake when i know its not. then what?
@ThatStampGuy8 күн бұрын
@@nowayhunting you may not have altered it but someone in the past 100 years may have. People have been altering stamps since the first issue of 1847. It’s known pretty soon after an issues release what the variations and scarcities are. There are some exceptions of varieties being officialized even today. But in the case of this stamp it’s been faked for over 100 years.

@@ThatStampGuy My step grandma and step dad both worked for a small town post office. When they passed many years ago I ended up with their stamp collection. I took a local stamp collectors club here in St. Joseph, Mo. and one of the guys quickly looked at them and sad, they are worth nothing, go ahead and use them. I did not believe him so I still them. Just think how many 1/2 cent stamps it would take to mail a letter?! Lol.
@ThatStampGuy7 күн бұрын
Yes older stamps with low denominations are not very practical for sending large items. However you can buy higher denominations way below face value like 40 cent stamps and need less of them to make the rate and will save a lot of money.

Could you tell us which stamps are rare
@ThatStampGuy2 ай бұрын
I could not possibly list all stamps that have high values. Luckily there are Scott catalogues that contain values for all stamps in the entire world. You can reference the Scott catalogue to see which stamps are rare.

Great video. I worked in a stamp store several years ago. I couldn't believe the number of people who brought their 'rare' and 'valuable' stamps into the store, hoping to get a fortune. You could see the disappointment when I showed them the Scott Catalogue and catalogue value for that stamp. The I pointed out our loose stamp bin and explained that stamps like this would end up in there and be sold individually or by the pound.

what scott num would perf 11 on 5cent washing dark blue SE right side paper has texture on reverse any help nothing on single booklet pane . great vidios btw

Likely it’s a Scott #504. If it’s SE at right then that would be right position on a left pane.

I'm surprised that you chose a topic I did a few weeks ago, and to be fair, others have also done in previous years. There's plenty of room in the sea for all of us to fish... (and honestly, the real story behind these isn't that there a scam, but that they're more than likely money laundering schemes. I just couldn't find conclusive proof to state it publicly).

As a stamp dealer I get photos of this stamp in my email every week from people thinking they hit it rich. Just trying to spread the knowledge on this design to reduce the amount of emails I’m getting 😄
