What interests me about that suit is that it was designed by a fan and Marvel bought it for $220 which may seem low but it was quite a bit back then

Yes, it’s an interesting story. I’m sure ideas for a lot of things came about from fans. I suppose he’s lucky he got paid anything. But goes to show that if you have a good idea, it’s important to know it’s value and protect you IP. For a lot of folks, just getting credit would be enough.

With that pose, looks like you have to display him on a higher shelf to get the most out of this statue. I prefer my Spidey in his traditional red and blue costume. If I were to get a black suited Spidey, I like the new Sideshow one.

On the contrary, this piece looks best just below eye level, to match the cover art. Currently, I have it displayed high up and it's harder to appreciate the accuracy of the sculpt to the 2D art. But still looks pretty impressive. I have the Sideshow Symbiote Spidey as well. Looks pretty good. A lot of people don't realize that the one is ASM 300 is just a black costume and not a symbiote.

I think gloss is more suited for the symbiote costume. This one is a fabric costume that was made after the symbiote left Spider-Man. The way it was drawn and colored back then makes it hard to tell what kind of sheen the material had.

Blue was often used to create highlights or separation of blacks in 2D comic book art. It didn't mean the item was actually blue. For example, here, the black suit was always completely black. Because it's a 3D sculpture, our eyes are able to decipher the highlights and tell the difference between the top and bottom of his foot.

I'm going to guess that you haven't actually watched many of my videos. I rarely talk about the monetary value of an item. When I do, it is relevant to the subject matter. This is a collectibles channel and I actually get asked A LOT about the value or price of items, when I don't mention it. So sometimes I will put it in the thumbnail or title to satisfy those viewers and to also create interest. The main reason for starting this channel was to get more people interested in the world of collecting. I try to accomplish this by trying to be both informative and entertaining. That being said, I'm not sure how discussing the value of an item, whether it be monetary or simply for enjoyment, would result in setting a bad example for someone. I actually think that reinforcing the values of hard work, money management, and appreciation of one's belongings is something that could greatly improve today's society.
