With the legs outs the, fairings do create a certain amount of drag which you feel in the extra power needed for level flight. The Moster powered version, you don't really notice it as much. Great video. I like the looks of the Adam wing. So it handles better than your Fox 13? I have the Fox 13 TL (the wing with the struts)...it flies nicely, maybe a little heavy in role,..the wing is fairly stiff, but I don't really have anything to compare it to. Unless you can try these wings out side-by-side there's not any way to tell one from the other...you pay your money and you take your chances. Years ago I had an Air Creations Fun14 single place and my Fox is lighter then that...I also has a Cosmos Samba with a Topless wing and VG. If you had the VG pulled in the wing was stiff, but with it let-out the wing handling was really light... my wing is heavier then the Cosmos with the VG out, about the same as the Topless with the VG pulled out...wing tight. Do you know what the max weight the Adam can carry? I've looked on both Flylight's and Aeros' web page and can't seem to find it. I know my Aeros ANT is heavier then your rig, but probably not that much. I'd be interested to see if this wing would fit my set-up. Thanks for an informative and honest assessment.

@@GolfFoxtrot22 no i missed it. curious you reasoning for 2 blades. There's good reasons for both .
@GolfFoxtrot223 жыл бұрын
The 3 blade was really noisy and did actually improve the cruise RPM (fuel burn), it was good in the climb but not by much. As you say, it was a little smoother but overall I didn't feel that that fact alone would outweigh the fuel consumption side of things. The video gives more detail and data.

One difference between the Adam and the videos of you flying your Pea Bee is the Adam has a couple of inches of clearance between the tip road and sail during flight, while your Pea Bee has very little clearance. Any time a tip rod touches the sail it'll impact roll rate and responsiveness, so it could be that the Pea Bee's handling is being compromised by how close the tip rod and sail are. It would be worth checking with Ben Ashman about this. If you could lower the tip rods on the Pea Bee just a couple of inches you could improve handling. I expect the margins for pitch stability on Pea Bee are high enough to handle this, again Ben is the one to check on this. If in doubt get the BPHA to stick the two gliders on the test rig , that would make a interesting video :-)

Hello Robert, I'd not really noticed that so I'll have a look next time. It could also be down to the way the bollowshift works and the dual surface will have a different influence on the AoA of the downgoing wing. I'm still very new to all this hang glider voodoo😁.
@robertosfield3 жыл бұрын
@@GolfFoxtrot22 Double surface gliders historically have tended to be stiffer than single surface gliders, so it's unusual for the single surface version to have less good roll handling. It could be the Pea Bee is set up with greater tension and has less washout than the Adam, so if the tip rods are set to a similar angle then the lower washout would give less room. However, they are different gliders so there is no reason to jump to the conclusion about tension/tip rod angles. This is something Ben could settle in a second.

It's how it came from the factory apart from a trim adjustment on the right wingtip. I really don't know much more than that. Ben would be better suited to answer., I'm happy to fly either, they make me smile.

@@GolfFoxtrot22 In general I would recommend folks just keep their gliders with stock tip rod and luff line heights - manufacturers will normally set them at that height to pass certification. However, if they are set to high they start engaging in normal flight and compromising performance and handling, and for your Pea Bee it looks this might be possibility, so worth double checking with Ben that things are set correctly. FYI, I used to work at Airwave gliders back in the 90's, helped on the design and stability side.

@@robertosfield I've not adjusted anything other than the tip adjustments for lateral trim which is in the manual and it seems to be the same with all the other Fox wings I've flown. I know they are all test flown before leaving AEROS. I can't comment any further.

Hang on a minute…. Retracts on a flex-wing? Doesn’t that make it a complex aircraft ??? :D
@GolfFoxtrot222 жыл бұрын
Complex aircraft, not really, have you seen the controls on a Doodlebug😁, that has retracts as well. The Dragonfly also has retracts. A complex aircraft must also have flaps and propeller to Engine management controls ( FADEC or DECU etc).
