This Beech Custom is such a great sounding drum kit no matter which heads you use. Of course the Hydraulics are a little muddy but they are quiet and mellow - perfect for a small practice-room. I use them on a tama silverstar bop set

Nice playing but I think it's not a good idea to remove the front bass drum skin and hoop specially with toms on the BD. That help to maintain the roundness of the shell. You can just cut a big hole into the front head if you like that sound.
