Great video, tnx! I was always wondering how does a full restore look like, what does it contain and how can it be done on e.g. a standalone machine.

I had trouble doing restoration, thinning it was either done or hanging up during the restore. Finally I ssh’d into the box and kept checking the drive free space and realized it was actually still working, it just took far longer than I ever expected, but things worked 100% once I actually allowed it to finish. So I start a restore, and go away, or to bed lol.

Thanks for this great video instruction. I followed it step by step and it works flawlessly. I use my QNAP NAS as a remote location. I wonder why the Backup-Names, e.g. “Daily Backup ….” shows up in the HA Backup-Folder but not on my QNAP. Here I only see .tar files w/ their names created by HA. Do you have any ideas?

Very interesting for my project. I'm looking for an approach that would allow me to operate 2 HA (Pi 4 and other) at the same time. The Pi4 would be in operation and the other system would take over in real time. In other words, the second system would take over if the first stopped working. Have you ever discussed this subject?

Got Auto Backup installed and configured. Saving to WD NAS shared folder. In HA, it shows backups completed, but can't locate them in the WD folder. It seems that I can restore backups in HA that were saved using Auto Backup, I'm just not sure where they're being saved (unless they're hidden on the server).

I'd like to see a tutorial on how to back up Home Assistant to my Synology NAS. In your video, Synology listed in your HA Backup options, but you skipped over how to set that up.

How do you get to the page that you refer to (the one with the green banner)? It isn't the github repo and it doesn't appear to be the Auto Backup configuration page in HA as mine looks nothing like the one that you are showing.

Ouch. I always do a full backup then download that backup before installing anything, I’ve been burned as well.

@@waynenocton Yep, I'm up and running again. My HAOS is in a Proxmox VM and I have backups for both that and the VM itself...... I was only trying this it out of curiosity.... Still not a clue what happened, but it went through without a hitch the second time........ It does look good tbf......
