I’m just gonna say it, Sookai is one of the very few ships where I feel there is 0 fan service done. They behave exactly the same with or without an audience. Their bond is 100% authentic. Started naturally and stayed that way after debut and exposure to fans. And the “Gumz” label came naturally because everyone around them can see it 24/7.

I don't think that they aren't popular because there is nothing sexual with their dynamic. There is nothing sexual with the other txt ships either compared to sookai, aside their shippers being dirty minded of course. Sookai shippers are more respectful about what sookai really have than the other txt shippers but if they wanted they could make lots of sookai lovey dovey moments into something sexual as well. They just dont do it.

Another reason why Sookai isn’t “popularized” or consumed in the traditional Kpop shippers way is because this fandom also loves to exaggerate their age difference and act like Hueningkai is Soobin’s son which is super weird to me. They’re literally best friends. Labeling them as mother/son is sometimes intentionally done to limit or dismiss their relationship and “gay-ify” Soobin and Hueningkai’s other ships more. 🙃

I think the main reason why Sookai isn’t the #1 ship is because usually the most popular members are always ship together. Especially in txt all of the members are very closes and I, myself also didn’t ship Sookai before. But later i found out that i haven’t known such relationship in the kpop industry like Soobin and Heuning Kai have. They are so obivious and transparent, yet so pure. I can’t unsee it now even if i tried to pair them with others.
