...and to top it all, Ted Phelps, sculling right over left ( the horror!), beautiful light touch in his flat wrists and relaxed grip on the recovery and the piece de resistance, casually sculling behind a launch, wash sweeping over the canvas...but still, every stroke perfectly balanced.

This an absolute joy. Excellent footage of the deadest of dead heats ( the crews going exactly the same speed for the last 100m), The 'Empire Eight' demonstrating the same lightness and slight 'lift' of the blade on the recovery as the Kiwi 2021 Olympic Champs...

Yes I did in 1988, you can see those DAF sprints on this channel
