~Lyrics~
I was alone, she was a woman,
I was a man, I never knew her name,
And she was pretty, New York City
I just gotta let it go,
The Train Kept A-Rollin' all night long
Get it on, cheap little woman get it on, on my way
Get it on, cheap little woman get it on, on my way
The Train Kept A-Rollin' all night long
The Train Kept A-Rollin' all night long

Right, for anyone banging on about Led Zep, Analsmith etc doing a better version of this than the mighty 'head... Lemmy and co had 48 HOURS to record the entire ALBUM this track is from... right from setting up the drums to doing the final mix, that was it. No chance of getting any sleep etc. So, yeah, it might be a little rough around the edges here and there, but for sheer raw energy - well, IMO, it knocks Tyler and the rest of those Botox-boys clean out of the water.

@sha1om

Well it's inspired by the Yardbirds' version, but the history is more complicated than that... :) There were two songs to start. Tiny Bradshaw recorded a "jump blues" (predecessor of rock'n'roll) called "Train Kept A-Rollin' " in 1951; Big Joe Turner recorded "Honey Hush" in 1953, more or less. Then the Johnny Burnette Rock And Roll Trio covered both those songs, back to back on one 45 about 1954. The famous distorted riff that drives the latter was originated by either Grady Martin or Paul Burlison, depending on whom you believe; both have their partisans and the bickering approaches holy war levels. Then the Yardbirds came along, took the lyric and melody from the A-side, and the riff from the B-side, and combined them both in their version of "Train Kept A Rollin'". This became the definitive performance, and all covers thereafter owe a debt to it.

sha1om To make things even more complicated; FOGHAT’s cover of “Honey Hush” is not the boogie woogie version of the song that Big Joe Turner wrote but rather the Johnny Burnette Rock’n’ Roll Trio version, with the riff from Train kept a rollin’. Confusing isn't it?

@nanarockband That's nothing. Black Sabbath's album "Black Sabbath" was recorded in just a few hours. They had paid for two days in the studio and one day was going to be used for mixing. They went in, played their live set, and then headed off to Switzerland to play a gig. As for your statements about the "Botox-boys" they are better musicians than Motorhead could ever dream of being. And they are a million times better than your pseudo Motorhead-wannabe band. Sorry, but that's the sad truth.
