I own a 1988 Eldorado with the Biarritz option. Loaded with power moon roof and sport wheels. Exterior is white with the quarter top, interior is maroon. For a thirty year old car it gets lots of looks. Mine has never been winter driver and is in excellent shape. Say what you want but it's a great car. It costs a few bucks to maintain but it is a Cadillac and is worth investing a few dollars into.
@klwthe3rd8 ай бұрын
If yours has the sports alloy wheels, you should look at the MSO tag sticker on the spare tire cover in the truck. In 1988, i believe that the alloy wheels only came on the upgrade FE2 suspension as the test car did in this exact video. Nowhere on the car does it say FE2 as the base suspension was FE1. Only the sport alloy wheels gives the optional FE2 sport suspension away. Only about 10% of all Eldorados came with the upgraded sport suspension. And even far fewer that were Biarritzs. Almost 98% of Biarritz's came with the standard softer FE1 suspension. If yours is equipment with that upgraded FE2 sports suspension that you have a very very very very rare 1988 Eldorado Biarritz.

This guy obviously hates the "traditional" car buyer, Ironically, He's easily 20 years older than me (and I mean this in real time as I'm sure he's 70 or so by now...) I was in my 20s when all these "older buyer" cars were new. I'm not saying This ELDO was my dream car (I actually had the even more "old man" Brougham.) So even as I am younger than then current Yuppie, I still love "traditional luxury cars".
@Nightbird.8 жыл бұрын
+WAQWBrentwood I didn't get that feeling at all by him. Remember..he is reporting on this car based on their test figures..not his personal opinion. All the points he made were factual..so if you were looking for an opinion piece this isn't what Motorweek does. They just report the facts.

***** See..your my kind of guy. My first car was a 1982 Lincoln Mark VI Signature Series Coupe. And I was barely in my early 20's when I bought that car. Loved, loved, loved that car! I still miss it to this day..and probably would still have it if some jerk hadn't stole it. To me..those early large bodied coupes were the way to go. And like you mentioned..the bigger ElDo's and Coupe DeVille's were awesome. I still would love to own both of those cars to this day. But then GM downsized them all..and they became the perfect cars for well-to-do women who didn't like parking the bigger coupes. I also find that most people who insult the bigger Cadillac or Lincoln coupes have actually never driven one..or been driven in one. I think if they could just feel how comfortable these cars were they would change their minds. It wasn't about the speed..or sportiness..or handling with these cars..which they did well enough. It was about driving around in what felt like a Lazy Boy chair..which meant you always arrived refreshed and relaxed no matter how long you were driving on the road. I still miss my Lincoln to this day..and sadly..all the ones I now see for sale are either in horrible shape..or are priced out of my budget if they were taken care of.

This was not my dream car when new, But by comparison, Any of the Cadillacs now are a let down. To be honest, I'd seriously consider an "M" body Chrysler 5th Avenue to be a more worthy "Cadillac" than anything Cadillac since 1992. My 84 Park Avenue agrees!
@jamesslick47908 жыл бұрын
There's still a market for comfortable cars. Unfortunately, since the 1980's the market has been brainwashed in to thinking that a friggin buckboard ride and Spartan styling IS luxury. (BMW,ETC...) How else does one explain how a $70,000 car sells with an interior with the "charm" of a '72 Nova? Oh, Well. I like fun handling cars too, but like comfortable "American road cars" more (In city traffic and long trips) So, Give me a 1966 Chevrolet Corvair just for fun weekend driving, And a 1977 Buick Limited for daily service!
@Nightbird.8 жыл бұрын
***** Oh man..I remember test driving a really beat up 1979 Lincoln Continental Town Car. I was bored and had time to spare..and I passed by it on a really junky car sales lot. It was black..and was very beat up looking. But I thought..what the hell..let me see if the damn thing starts. Well it started..and I was warned the brakes were shot..but that I could test drive it. Off I went..and I just couldn't believe it: It felt like I was riding on a cloud..a literal cloud. My Mark VI couldn't even come close to riding that softly..and I was totally amazed. So you are a lucky man indeed if you have one of these beauties. And you have a Coupe DeVille too? Stop..I think I'm falling in love..lol!

Mine has 115k, just had valve work done, sat for 20 years in her garage, stored properly, ut still needed some work, I ter al engine was spotless when inspected, no sludge period. Now she runs flawlessly. She has had her cooling system , efire storage, every year, plus the 2 tabs. It's quite a tight and very rare ride. Antique tags on her, a true survivor , original paint, o rings or corrosion anywhare. A keeper. Totally reworked the chassie, not cheap but well worth it!
