Hard not to feel a little envious at times being a collector for almost 50 years and watching your videos down there in Florida. Now here's a video I can relate to this year after raising a few myself. Getting nailed by the spines is all part of experience if not almost impossible.

Any tips for helping ensure they stay alive? I tried my hand at these this year and have greatly struggled with them. Initially it was finding out what food they would eat because I had them shipped in from out of state, figured out they liked sugar hackberry then they changed their minds and would only eat osage orange, but after that I struggled to know what they wanted that wasn't food related. Thought it was humidity so I tried to keep things humid but still had some dying, heat seemed to help. Is 70's too cold for these guys?

@@aphyngodiva2551 these are all great questions. They typically aren’t very picky on what they will eat. Hackberry should have done it. The only thing with Hackberry is that the leaves dry out quickly on that plant. You might want to try a plant with more of a wax leaf that keeps humidity in. temperatures in the 70s should be fine for them. One of the most important things is to make sure they don’t get too dry and make sure they don’t get too wet. Managing humidity in the container causes more sickness than anything. If it gets too humid, just about every species will eventually get sick and die.we have a lot of videos that talk about this kind of thing with various species. Watch some of them and see if you can clean off of what we have done. Good luck to you. If you have any specific questions, let me know.
