42:15 this is so fucking huge brain. Moth super jumps over the "threshold" of that covered area so he's not exposed as he's crossing with his team. it's little things like that, tiny details that someone who doesn't focus on Mercy might not catch, that separate a good Mercy from an average one. but if you're someone who either plays Mercy a lot or just knows a lot about the support heroes and how their play styles are different, you notice the subtle things and can appreciate them. watching OWL Mercys just reminds me of the fact that, for the most part, taking damage is the main way a support player can feed. we might not always be sending it into the enemy back line like tanks sometimes do when they feed, but we feed nonetheless. this means we need to be mindful of our gameplay. taking, idk, 50 damage isn't that big of a deal, especially as Mercy where you can still peek to keep your beam attached and just let your passive heal you while still doing your job (as opposed to needing to use an active resource, like nade or Bap's shift, to self heal, but if you didn't *need* to take that damage, if you could have avoided it by superjumping over an exposed area or by staying in cover, that's feeding. 50 damage is still 50 damage that's going to build enemy ults, and that could be the difference between enemy soldier using visor and turning a fight around or him dying with 98% and then respawning with his ult.

he superjumps over/around a big exposed area at 42:15 so he could cross safely with his team without risking any damage and the subtle huge brain beauty of it legit added two years to my life edited because I forgot the time stamp lol

I'll never understand why other players thinks anyone actually WANTS to play this hero so that they can pocket them. I'd rather just, not turn the game on at all.

The mental stimulation of having to be intelligent and stay alive is usually enough to please most Mercy players!

i mean its also a lot of decisionmaking and weird techs for positiong and doding, although agree it must get boring. but he i believe they dont get payed allto shabby for playing the meta for their team.

@@aeton7511 tbh I think playing any one hero all the time is what gets boring. it's not Mercy specifically, at least not for me. ml7 made a comment once that the only "problem" with the tank and support hero pool is that there's so few of them *and* you have to share that small number with someone else on your team, which tank players at least won't have to deal with in ow2. so it gets boring playing the same 6-7 heroes all the time, whereas the dps hero pool is much bigger and there's a huge diversity in types of heroes - there's hitscan and projectile, but widow and Cassidy, both hitscans, are very different, and same with projectiles because Pharah and Junkrat are very different. there's just a lot more variety, which is why supports and tanks sometimes burn out a little bit and want to play something else for a while to recharge. but when it comes to Mercy, I actually find her to be the most exciting hero, so I'm very rarely bored of her. Ana and Bap and Brig and the rest are great and I love all of them, but they just don't give me the same satisfaction and excitement that Mercy does. there's nothing like being mentally exhausted after a fight because you were zooming all over the place and healing and damage boosting and getting a cheeky res off too. don't get me wrong - I totally understand why the hero isn't for everyone. sometimes people are bored with her simply because they don't fully understand the hero or her role -- holding your dps' hands 24/7 is boring and is not and should not be considered to be the entirety of Mercy's job (AKA do you know how fast Rein can get shatter if you damage boost his fire strikes? lol) - but other times, it's just not a play style that appeals to people, and that's 100% fine! I only just recently started to appreciate Zen more after watching ml7's unranked to GM series on him. my dislike/occasional boredom with Zen doesn't mean the hero is inherently bad or boring. it just means he's not for me. I feel like that's something that is often lost when talking about various heroes, not just Mercy. just because someone or even a large group of people don't enjoy playing a hero doesn't mean the hero is bad or that the people who play that hero a lot aren't good at the game. I'm not saying you are saying this, btw! I'm talking generally about the community as a whole and the way people talk about other heroes like Sombra especially but also Sym, too, and others.

@@lazarocito as a Mercy main, I appreciate that you said "most" Mercy players because God knows I don't have the brain cells after work to play Mercy intelligently lol
