@@thebadgirlleajah that is the real mom………cats don’t raise their young to adulthood and beyond. Around 6 months they become hostile to the kittens to get them to leave and spread out to some other territory. She no longer sees them as her kids but competition for food, reproduction and other resources. Mother cats will even kill their kids if they don’t heed the warning and leave.

It looks like they're trapped in a small space. Mama needs to be able to get away from the kittens and have alone time. This is normal if she can't do that.

Mom Cat is just being a good mom. She's trying to teach them that it's time for them to grow up and be more independent. They're getting too close, and needy. Mom Cat wants them to learn how to stand on their own 4 paws and get their own territory. They're weaned and don't need her milk anymore so they need to leave her alone. They're not kittens any longer they're cats now.

This is actually natural but rare, when a mother cat either has low food, or has too big of a litter, she will neglect one and even attack it to ensure the rest of the litters survival, it may seem cruel(which it is) but thats what cats believe are right, no matter how bad it is

People, this is NOT weaning. Weaning is when the mama cat simply doesn’t allow their babies to wean(drink milk from nipples) and encourages them to start to eat actual food. It’s normal cat behavior and in the wild is when they start to slightly help them hone their hunting skills. This on the other hand, is the mama cat restricting her babies from getting the food and water they need! In nature, the kittens are forced to live on their own at only around 2-4 months old when this happens sadly, but if you’re in charge of caring for these kittens, you need to intervene! Separate them from the mama, and if they are still too young to be weaned, find a loving and accepting foster mom. Best of luck to these poor kitties❤️ EDIT: On closer examination, I realize the issue. This environment is WAY too claustrophobic. It’s making Mama stressed and start to act out on her babies. Please, give them separate food and water bowls as well as more room than a cardboard box. Also allow them to leave the box to give them some freedom so mama doesn’t feel trapped

Does anyone in the comments not know that maternal instincts wear off when the kittens are old enough to be their own cat. As this is a natural response an animals do everything out of instinct. Unless domesticated, yet you can't completely remove instinct from animals.

i have a similar problem with my mother cat , i left two kittens behind because it broke my heart to see my mother cat cry after giving away a kitten . yes cats cry and acknowledge when they are missing a babbh kitty. this is not her first litter .the last litter she was left with one kitten which grew into adult hood but soon after i noticed she was attacking the son adult cat from the previous litter where i failed to notice and failed as a pet owner i feel because it turned out the son cat was sick ,it died saddly rip ,so i figured that just like the mother would eat or push away a sick kitten the son was to old to do either so she would attack it at times she would love it but quickly get away, back to thenew kittens this is the first time ive seen her act this way towards her babies they are healthy and se is usually a good mom idk the on.y thing i can think of is her being prego again ,which ever the reason i love my cats they are my fam and it hurts me tio see her acting this way towards her little ones

Looks like you're having trouble getting Mama to settle down and start to be a good mother again, sad for the kittens if she has to be separated from them. She is being very nasty. That poor boy who just wanted a drink of water definitely didn't deserve to be hissed and swiped at. Glad to see the sweet tabby girl manages to get to eat something. I'm wondering if Mama isn't pregnant again, that perhaps, although looking OK, she may not be feeling well, have some underlying health trouble making her not want to put up with her kittens around her. Or she's just a grumpy cat who's had enough of her kittens and doesn't feel she should still love and care for them once weaned.

@@samwalker8893 Watch the later videos, Mama was very upset and stressed, in the anger phase of grief about being abandoned by her human family. She slowly settled down and recovered and mothered her kittens again. They were a bit young to leave their Mama, better for their overall health and well being in the long run to stay with mother and still get some milk from her a little longer.

The Mama was very stressed and upset about being abandoned by her owner and it made her attack her kittens generally a lot, not just over food and drink bowls, That is not being a good Mama indeed, not grooming or letting them feed from her. She eventually settled down and was a good Mama again. Unfortunately the tabby girl was affected badly by her Mama attacking her and her siblings and didn't return to being as happy and carefree as her siblings did once Mama recovered from her trauma. She stayed pretty timid and scared easily, and always a bit wary of her Mama.

The mother is not nasty or a monster. She’s simply a stressed and scared cat who’s clearly in a bad environment based on the video. Cats will often panic and begin to hurt the ones they love when stressed. To humans, this behavior may seem awful, but to cats, this is a natural instinct. Separation is not always the option

Cats are crazy I don’t understand their behaviour, they’re weird I had one and I returned it after 9 months, a dog came to may garden and I was with the cat and I carried him to save him and guess what he scratched all my face and barely missed my eye was so sad why he did that he was like a king for me so I decided to return it to shelter where I took him the first time

If a dog spooks your cat, do not pick them up. Separate the two first and allow the cat to find a safe place. Then find the cat and slowly pet and maybe give them treats to calm them down. The reason your cat scratched you was because they were scared and believed they were in danger. This can also happen when cats are brought to a new location, or are in a bad environment in general. I really hope you’re recovering from the attack, but I hope this advice can help if you decide to adopt another cat in the future. Also note that all cats are different and this may be different for all of them.
