I have had mental illness for most of my life. I have been suicidal, violent, and self destructive. It was a result of being abused by a family member and pimped from the ages of 8 to 14. God can heal you. I know what channel I’m on, so I know it’s likely you will not want to hear this... but if you want to be cured of this horrible awful trauma you’ve been through, this is the way. And don’t just go to church and listen to Bible thumpers. Just read the New Testament, cry out to God, forgive the person/people who hurt you, and realize that it’s not your fault. This may sound terrible but it’s the truth-when you have your mental issues/breaks, you can’t help yourself and you are not in control, right? then realize the person who hurt you couldnt help themselves. They were traumatized too, which made them the way they are. It doesn’t excuse any of it, but this is the only way to beat this. Doctors won’t help. I know people hate being preached at, but I have been cured of trauma and addiction and hatred just by realizing that I’m not in control, I just needed God to take over. I know people have an aversion to Christianity these days and I think a lot of that is because most Christians are no different than the rest of the world. They don’t like actually living like a Christian, they just like the idea of it. Most of them are just as judgmental, if not more than secular folks. Take your daughters to the range. My grandma once defended herself and my infant father with a shotgun. I hate the mental health argument. No one is ever specific about what their issue(s) were and they use it as a means for excuse of their actions and as if their actions might not be deadly. But I have to say that the father's statements are completely irrational, and yes the tragedy of losing a child probably taints his outlook but I feel that they should be pointed out. He said something along the lines of "I feel sorry for that young lady....but she needs to realize what happened to her and what happened to my son were TWO SEPARATE INCIDENTS" Just because the two actions (him shooting the apartment and him getting shot by police) were a few hours apart does not mean that they were separate incidents and imply that they are somehow unrelated. The detachment from reality is insane. Worse, is that people will read that in the news and establish in their head that his son was not the one shooting up the apartment or that cops showed up just for a "mental health crisis" and incredulously just "murdered" him.

Hearing that woman initial "this is not okay" breaks my heart every time. The confusion, pain, & pleading anger in her voice hits like a wave. Her tone gets the same reaction from me that hearing a puppy yelping in pain gets. It's an instinctive reaction. Some people get it when they hear a baby cry. You want to help.
