If you don't live in the house, you don't have a say in if the dog stays or not. Especially if you know it's a reactive dog and you decide to bring your own dog. That's not being a good friend. And don't you dare use your child (who again doesn't live there and doesn't have to play or interact with the dog) as a manipulative ploy to guilt your 'friend' into getting rid of their dog. If you want to pretend to be superior mother of the year, then don't bring your kids to a place that you don't feel is safe. Have your friend go to your house.

I get what people are saying about the friend but I think the issue is that her and her daughter are friends and neither one of these women wants to be in a situation where they're structuring their play time around a dog. They don't want for the one daughter to always have to go over the other girl's house or for the dog to be trapped in a small room all day devoid of contact just so they can hang out or have a sleep-over. So the specific problem IS trying to create a safe and safe-feeling space for their girls, and with her other friends as well.

@Maninawig3 жыл бұрын
I agree that collars shouldn't be used to walk such dogs, but I find them quite useful for identification. With all the dogs in my extended family, there's been a common ideal of dog theft stating "we thought it was a stray as there's no collar." Rather those who have flat nosed dogs keep the collar loose and decorative so that the dog is safe in the back yard or in the house. (Yeah, breaking in to steal a "stray" is a thing)

@@darkcreatureinadarkroom1617 the problem is that a friendly dog wearing his name is more likely to get stolen, as a thief only has to call it by name to avoid suspicion. Roxy doesn’t seem like a sweet dog. Then again, Victoria certainly helped turn her into a sweet little dog. Bulldogs in general seem like chunky lovable dogs. They’re certainly adorable! 😊

Breeding bull dogs is cruel
@julievanderleest3 жыл бұрын
@@nofinn1044 why’s that? I’m seriously asking because they’re a breed I know very little about. The only thing that I do know is that they tend to have a lot of health problems and even chronic pain because of their body structure and weight.

@@julievanderleest Don’t get me wrong they are absolutely the sweetest dogs when it comes to personality. Unfortunately, breeding standards for bulldogs has left the breed with (as you mentioned) horrific health problems, often BOAS (brachycephalic airway syndrome), it’s a heartbreaking progressive disorder that worsens with time. They tend to have issues with their soft palate, and are prone to obesity and to develop hip dysplasia. How many bulldogs have to be born via cesarean section, and many can only breed through artificial insemination. I think there was definitely a point where these issues could have been addressed through better breeding practices, but it this point I think it’s cruel to breed these dogs for a few more generations, Because you’re going to have several generations with chronic issues. I grew up with bulldogs. I think they’re lovely, they’re adorable, do you have a wonderful disposition. I just think we’re at a point where it’s cruel to read these animals. When you breed a bulldog you’re essentially putting the mother at risk, and you reading puppies that are likely going to require massive surgeries later on in life. At least a North America, these issues are found in both American and English bulldogs. Even French bulldogs to an extent.

What a horrible friend. How about helping her rather than judging. Any animal can attack, even her little poodle.

I kind of understand the friend. She doesn't know dogs behaviour and is obviously very concerned about her daughter. What I don't understand is that she didn't educate herself so the girls could have played together with Roxy without any concerns early on

Do you also understand that she doesn't ever have to come to that woman's home? Why are you ignoring that...

I hate how she always "labels" the dog, never the behaviour. That can ultimately lead to them rehoming the dog. Doe she always blame the dog? How did she get this famous?
