a lot of this actually reminds me of stranger things, will became possessed by the mind flayer which is seen in a *storm*. in the lab a lot of the tendrils (vines) spread throughout it unable to be touched without hazmat suits. alongside this there were tunnels which Will knew about as he could communicate with the so called *mother*.
