Two things wrong about this song, Henry Ford wasn’t the creator of the automobile, it was actually Karl Benz, in Germany. Ford invented the assembly line that helped build his cars though. Second Robert Fulton wasn’t American, He was actually British and invented the steam boat while still living there, but brought it to New York for use on the canals.

IM 25,WHEN I WAS 8 MY GRANDMOTHER BOUGHT ME THE TOP 30 SCHOOL HOUSE ROCK SONGS ON VIDEO AND I REMEMBER SEEING THIS AND THINKING “MOTHER NECESSITY?,WOW I HAD NO IDEA THE INVENTORS WERE SIBLINGS” LMAO (😆KIDS I KNOW RIGHT) IT WAS ONLY LATER IN MY LATTER TEENS THAT I DISCOVERED THE TITLE OF THIS SONG IS BASED ON THE PROVERB “NECESSITY THE MOTHER OF INVENTION” WHICH AS I (AT 16) TOLD MY (57 YEAR OLD) AUNT WHEN THE NEED ARISES PEOPLE WILL DISCOVER NEW MEANS AND METHODS TO GET THE JOB DONE. BUT MY HATS OFF TO WHOMEVER CAME UP WITH THE VERY CUTE AND CLEVER CONCEPT OF THE SONG ITSELF I STILL 18 YEARS LATER REMEMBER IT WORD FOR WORD!! 💜

Tesla invented all the parts to make wireless radio. Marconi was just first to get a patent on it. He ripped if Tesla's inventions, but the U.S. govt gave the patent back to Tesla in 1943.

@dragonboyjgh Nobody creates in a vacuum. All of these people had major contributions to the fields, often defining contributions. Tesla makes more sense for radio though. If only because he was an American citizen, and the song is about American inventors. Marconi was Italian, and never became an American citizen.

No, Marconi did invent the first long range radio communicator. Tesla did barely beat him out on a device that can transmit and receive electromagnetic waves, but Tesla was convinced that radio waves, even if they existed, could never be reliably used for communication. Tesla's device was meant to wirelessly send electricity, not information.
