Established in 1841, the first Mother of God Catholic Church was built in 1842. The current edifice was built in 1871 and is one of the top 5 architecturally significant and most beautiful churches in the United States. If you have never been in this magnificent church, at least take the time to watch this video and enjoy the skill and craftsmanship that went into building this historic structure.

I visited this past Thursday and Friday. Found my great great grandparents grave. At Mother of God Cemetery. Beautiful church. Beautiful city

What a great tour of the history and architecture of this beautiful and beloved landmark! The close photography of exquisite details hidden in the nooks and crannies of the dome is a revelation - it's hard to imagine how that could have been achieved at any cost before the availability of drones.

Thank you for making this video. Being from a German Catholic family from Covington, I had been in that Church many times. Today I learned more about than I had known before. The artist, Johann Schmitt, was my Grandmother Linneman's step father.

I have 3 suggestions. Sacred Heart Basilica in Newark NJ. Took over 100 years to finish. Has a pope's chair now. St. Lucy's Church in Newark NJ built by Italian craftsmen in tribute to St. Gerome. In San Antonio there is a smaller church other than the cathedral. I remember almost no parking there. Beautiful inside.
