@leicestergirl634 жыл бұрын
Exactly. They really shouldn't do that but, no doubt, they do it because they get commission so the higher the price of the dresses they get sold the more money they make. They just hope there's 'wiggle room' and that many people will pay more than the original budget they stated.
@bubbles6964 жыл бұрын
Yeah but it’s kind of not their fault, the dresses are a certain price and they can’t change the price, also the bride always wants a specific type of dress but they can’t really get one that isn’t in that price range

@@bubbles696 exactly and plus i mean 500... there isnt exactly much of a variety u can get from that price but at the same time the brides want to be picky and want more dresses to choose from... there's only so much assistants can do to please you without having any wiggle room... at the end of the day if you want a beautiful good quality dress you have to put your hand in your pocket.. its just how it is unfortunetely

@@cottoncandyflossful Also to point out, weddings aren't cheap in the slightest and costs can quicly escalate. Wedding dresses are typically worn only once in your life and never again, hence why some people find the cost ridiculous considering what regular dresses may cost. My friend tried to keep hers down by letting her mum sew her dress, and it still went to nearly 1000 pounds (estimated from what she said it cost her). Still, she was so happy about it. My mother has agreed to help fund my dress when the day comes, but even so, as neither she nor I are that good at sewing, we might get it tailor made. But the dress wll be pricey.

Randonisawesome: What you and a lot of the others on this thread seem to find it difficult to comprehend is that not everyone has lots of money, believe it or not. 😬 You all seem to think this bride-to-be's mother is a bitch/ cheapskate for not having said she would pay thousands for her daughter's dress. Did it even cross your tiny minds that she couldn't afford more? Also, the budget was £500 which, is about 650 US dollars and it's totally possible to get gorgeous dresses for that price or even less. Many of the far more expensive dresses featured in the SYTTD New York and Atlanta episodes are not all that anyway (and some are hideous).

OK, so here's the thing. £500 is ridiculous for a wedding dress in a store like this. I'm not saying you can't find a nice wedding dress within the budget, but you certainly can't find one in this store. But on the other hand, I hate when they put them in dresses that are over budget. Lesson number one: DO NOT walk into an expensive store and hope to find a bargain. Always shop around. Just like with diamonds - you can find diamonds that cost about a thousand but if you walk into a place like Tiffanys they will sell you the exact same size and cut diamond for 10x that amount. Her mother had a point. Her insistence on getting "cheap" makes her look bad. Less expensive would be ideal. I'm horrified that "wedding" adds noughts to the cost of things. It's unbelievable that some people are prepared to fork out 10s of thousands for one day when they can't afford somewhere to live. The marriage is more important than the wedding
@thehungrygoldfish Жыл бұрын
You can wear a regular dress if you want, but it's going to be nowhere near a traditional wedding dress, especially if you want beading and lace and other elements that wouldn't normally be on a regular dress. The only type of dress that would be remotely close to a wedding dress would be a prom dress, but most of them don't come in white, and won't have beading or lace. And if you want a ball gown? Forget it. You're not going to find one for $500 unless you steal it, lol. And don't forget unless regular dresses, you have to custom order a wedding dress specifically to your size. You can't just buy one off the rack and do no alterations.

Benjamin Gundersen There is a short form at the end of you don’t feel like reading the whole thing but the long part is pretty how I figured it out. It took me about 45 minutes so if you want to read it, that would be appreciated (: Isomer Mashups’s about thing said that they are 21, therefore a Gen Z. As they are a Gen Z, it is safe to assume that their parents are Gen X which is the age range of 40-54 or 1965-1979. Let us assume that their mother was in her early twenties when she got married as that was about the average age to get married around that time. While I do believe that their mother is a bit younger than this, let us use the earliest year a Gen X could be born. If their mother was born in 1965, it would be around 1985 when she got married. 100$ in 1985 is worth about 240$ today. That would mean that the dress cost about 240$ and the whole wedding would cost about 4800$ today which is still a lot less than the average of 38,700$ spent based on a study run in July of 2019. TLDR: the dress would cost about 240$/183£ The entire wedding would cost around 4800$/3676£.

Karina Lujan ah, you’re 15. That explains it. Stuff is A LOT more expensive when you’re an adult and paying for things with money you’ve worked for. It’s just something you won’t fully realise until you’re older, and that’s okay. Wedding dresses are expensive, though. They’re made to order, made by hand, and often take months to finish. They’re basically couture. The material and workers’ time costs a lot! The only way you’d find a cheap dress is if you’re buying a mass-produced one (and there, the quality is going to be significantly lower and with fewer unique, premium details) or if you’re buying a sample (which come in only one or two sizes and have been worn by hundreds of other women before you).

You could buy an entire wardrobe and wear gorgeous clothes everyday! This show normalises spending £2000+ on a dress that is often fairly tacky. This bridal boutique never seem to have cheap options for the brides but there are tons of online retailers that offer beautiful dresses for around £500.

I spent 10,000 on my custom wedding dress because although things vaguely like what I wanted exist my style just wasn’t in fashion (sheath with a halter neck from the bodice and lace sleeves extending from that.) I am by no means wealthy, but saved up in a savings account since I was about 15 because I wanted to feel like ME and have a dress I felt really good in on the one day I’ll ever get to be a bride in my life. It was 100% worth it and I was honestly willing to spend more than that and save a little longer, wouldn’t have put that money to anything else. Plus, since it was a custom, my dress sold for £3500 afterwards secondhand to a bride who was over the moon so I suppose my dress cost £6500 and it was worth every penny. Usually I’m frugal as fuck, love a deal and save like crazy but this was something worth saving FOR and I ultimately knew that money in that account was never mine, it was for the bride Christina on her one day to celebrate finally being one with the love of her life.
