Great video! Totally agree! Chores are so important. I am so grateful that my in laws had my husband work hard at home, he has great character and work ethic because of it and I am excited for it to be instilled in our littles. My younger kids love cleaning and cooking, they don’t even need an invitation to jump in 😊

After dinner tonight, Peter (18 months) grabbed the broom and started sweeping the kitchen. Then, he moved on to other areas. Kids love to help and feel productive!

You also are either pregnant, or breastfeeding so there's that. Love hearing how you do things with your big family.

I’d love to hear an interview with Miriam about things related to being a girl in 2019, especially a teenager. She seems very mature. What does she see in her future?

I like to think that a child doing chores is a sign that they will grow up to be successful. However, some of my younger brothers that refused to do chores have turned out to be very successful businessmen.

What kind of jobs would you suggest for younger children? My son is 6 and I struggle with what tasks to give him so that there's a range and not just the same chores

I would suggest searching Google or Pinterest for age-appropriate chores, and see what best fits your family.

Will you let the girls babysit other kids as teenagers? Like for other families in the church.....? Thank you for sharing!

Yes, they can volunteer as mother's helpers to other moms in the church with all young kids. Miriam has already helped someone like that.

Any advice on toy organization
@AreTheyAllYours
@AreTheyAllYours 5 жыл бұрын
No toys in bedrooms, throw out all broken toys or any that require batteries, reduce toys by about 90%, keep only toys that can be used in a variety of ways and are high quality. Have individual smaller bins that can be rotated through/put out of reach, rather than large toy bins. One or two stuffed animals or dolls per child.

Absolutely love you swing chair.i was the oldest of Six children three and three more 15 years later with seven miscarriages.We all had chores and being the oldest the babysitter.never had to pay room and board.You sound like a baby machine .Of course you should be doing the majority of the work.You should stop having children by now if your lazy manager .You look young enough to clean you brought all these kids into the world to make them little slaves??? Dr Phil would have a lot of verbs for you if you were a guest on his show.

Yup. I'm lazing in my swing chair all day, eating bonbons. You should try it. Have ten kids, raise them to be both hard-working and compliant, and then sit back and enjoy the fruit of your labor. Except that lazy people don't raise such kids, and those who raise such kids are not lazy and cannot stand to sit around, even if they could afford to. Now buzz off and crack open a book on grammar/spelling/punctuation.

I think its unfair that you expect your older children to work all day and the come home and do chores. I believe you said that your oldest is 17. He's still a child, technically! You gave birth your children and it is your duty to provide them with a home to live in until they are 18. I can understand making them pay rent then, but they are still children right now.

They get to choose between paying for cost of living, or living here for free and pitching in to do their share of the housework. They all choose the latter. If they are old enough to make money like adults, they are old enough to pay bills (or work) like adults.

If they are working it’s by choice to make money for their use. Being a member of a loving household is a blessing. And so is being able to help. Those who are not taught to give feel entitled not to in this greedy world. Christ came to serve and those who serve are first in the kingdom. Christ is our example. Imagine if all adults had the mentality “ it’s not fair” , their would be no charity.
