At 31:30, after advising that intervention should be avoided if it results in greater harm, you said: "...I would venture that the times we live in and the society we live in that for pretty much any man to talk to any woman about how they dress is going to result in more harm, perhaps even physical harm". Episode 6 Notes: Sawdah Bint Zam’a RA Sawdah RA is from the Quraysh and she was married once before marrying the Prophet SAW. She migrated to Abyssinia with her husband and had a son from that marriage. Her husband passed away in Abyssinia. Sawdah RAS’s marriage to the Prophet SAW occurred after Khawlah Bint Hakeem RA came to the Prophet SAW and asked if he wishes to remarry after Khadijah RA’s demise. The Prophet SAW asked who she recommends and Khawlah RA recommended Aisha RA and Sawdah RA depending on the type of wife the Prophet SAW is looking for. The Prophet SAW thus asked Khawlah RA to visit Sawdah RA and ask if she is interested. Khawlah RA did as such and Sawdah RA after obtaining her father’s blessing, agreed to marry the Prophet SAW. The Nikkah occurred in late 10BH after Sawdah RA’s father invited the Prophet SAW to their house. Sawdah RA was the oldest of the wives of the Prophet SAW in Medina and she was roughly around the age of the Prophet SAW at the time of marriage. Sawdah RA made Hijrah to Medina with the family of the Prophet SAW before he did. Sawdah RA had a great sense of humour and the Prophet SAW would laugh at her jokes. It is because of Sawdah RA that the extra Hijab for the Ummahatul Mumineen was revealed in Ayah 53 of Surah Ahzab. This is because Sawdah RA was a tall and bulky woman and could be recognised despite donning the Khimar and Jilbab. Thus the extra Hijab for the Ummahatul Mumineen was revealed in order to fully cover their shapes in public. Around 6AH, she began to feel that the Prophet SAW may divorce her due to her age. Thus she gave her night to Aisha RA. This is because she wanted to be with the Prophet SAW on Qiyamah and in Jannah as one of his wives. After the demise of the Prophet SAW, Sawdah RA lived a very simple life and would donate any money that she got to the poor and needy. Sawdah RA stayed at home for the remainder of her life and stayed out of the early Muslim political civil wars. Sawdah RA passed away in the reign of Muawiyah RA in 54AH and was one of the last of the Ummahatul Mumineen to pass away. Sawdah RA was buried in Jannat Al Baqi. Fun Trivia fact: Sawdah RA is the only wife after Khadijah RA who the Prophet SAW lived with in Makkah. Fun Trivia fact: Aisha RA really admired the wisdom of Sawdah RA and feared her harsh/strict side. Fun Trivia fact: There are weak narrations that the Prophet SAW divorced Sawdah RA. Fun Trivia fact: A wife in Islam can give her night to another wife because Sawdah RA did this to Aisha RA. Please note: I HIGHLY recommend that you all watch YQ’s MOB series, as I DON’T cover every single detail the Sheikh mentions. I made these notes primarily for myself but, decided my fellow brothers and sisters may benefit from them too. I no doubt will have made mistakes in my notes. All the good in these notes is from Allah SWT and all the mistakes are from myself. But, I was very meticulous and tried my best to make sure everything is accurate as the Sheikh mentions it. You also will see I have added “Fun Trivia facts” under each of my notes. These FTFs are information YQ said that was off topic or not necessary to include in my notes for the episode. But, they were still worth mentioning hence the inclusion as FTFs. FTFs aren’t always HAPPY pieces of information. Sometimes they are very sad trivia. I just want to say that FTF is the phrase I used for them all collectively when making the notes. One thing I wanted to do but am too lazy to do is, maybe someone could take the FTFs from under each “Episode” and make an Islamic reminder/information IG/TikTok account and post them daily or something.
