Excellent overview of this core set. Very evocotive of the sort of zine-based, system-light games that typified the early 90's (STOCS and the like).

Good profile, didn't notice the problem with the tokens until you pointed it out. As far as the color problem it looks like it could be as much an issue with contrast, which should be universal. That's unfortunate. I guess it's not easy to coordinate printings but a good rule of thumb is to look at it in grayscale or black and white and see if it makes sense, I wish more people would take the time to do that. Into the feel of all these things, although I wonder if I'd already be houseruling stuff (like the armor rules, I'd have the armor degrade with a successful hit instead of becoming useless), but it's apparently become a bit of a tentpole game which is really gratifying. Hope there will be a reprint in the future, seems unavailable to nonbackers at the moment, apart from PDF

I'm curious about this boxed set, or where it might go eventually, especially with 3rd party creators. The zine version was a weird one for me. I really, really liked it on first pass, and loved the first two expansion books (Dead Planet and Pound of Flesh). Gradient Descent felt like a misfire, but these things happen. On second pass of the zine, though, I was more iffy with the rules. It felt like characters were too weak and incompetent, even for a Horror game. But I haven't played it, so I can't be sure. In the meantime, I ended up getting a chance to play the Alien RPG, which scratched the same itch, and which I enjoyed, system-wise, much more. That said, I'd still play it if I had the opportunity (maybe at a con). And I've used some of the toolkits from the various books for other games.

Never played but you mention it’s a very lethal game. How does MoSH deal with early character death? Just jump in with a new character? Pre-Gens? How quick is new Character gen?

So they made a board game and they have excellent stuff that you can steal for another real role-playing game if you want to
