Losing your wife, boyfriend or partner is one of the most painful experiences in life. The process is a unique and confusing one, and people whose partners have passed away have had to deal with a myriad of feelings ranging from guilt, regret and even confusion at the sudden change in status.
Ronald, Jane and Ramond are 3 people whose partners have passed away, and they share how they lost their partner, their journey of dealing with grief and loss, and how they eventually managed to overcome it.
0:24 - How they met

I can totally relate to them. My late husband was mugged, in the ICU for 2 months and finally succumbed to his brain injuries. Our daughter was 3 years old then. I had no time to grief, had to find a job and survive. When my daughter is asleep and all's quiet, I weep.

When we lost our life time partner, he/she will always live in our memory. Grief is not an illness, therefore there is no cure. It is like a wave, it comes and goes. We learn to live with it over time.

i think it's very important to show this and the stages of grief that people go through and the road to recovering from something so tragic. my aunt passed away back in 2017-18 to cancer and only recently lost my grandfather to covid so it was really hard for me, i related slightly to Ramond because seeing that person you always see everyday suddenly not being there is heartbreaking and everything just feels so surreal. its really nice of them to open up about their experiences and how it has affected them long term to show us that we aren't alone, with whatever we are suffering with we have to learn to enjoy every moment we have with them before it becomes a memory.

I always tell my friends and family. Life is short and very unpredictable. Don't be left behind wishing - "I wish I had done this or that." If your circumstances permit and you want to do or say something nice, do it now.

I lost my Husband , my soul mate of 38 years in January of 2022 . It’s will be one year soon , he was in the hospital for 24 days and it was a longest 24 days I have ever live because we can’t see him until he passed , I still go to bed crying every night , I’m so lost ,every thing is reminding of him , praying to god every minutes so he can help me ease my pain .

This video hits home , because it's true that we never truly get over lost of a loved one, it just hurt lesser but the void is always there. Sometimes I wished I could turn back time just to relieve some moment with them for one last time..

In the Islamic tradition, people who pass away are in another world and we will meet them sooner or later and we are not allowed to mourn them for more than 3 days. We are encouraged to pray for their well-being and do charity on their behalf. We are also strongly told to expect all of us to meet on the day of judgement.. Thus we are told to continue our earthly life with a positive attitude and continue to do good deeds till we die and meet up with them. Allah and His prophets know best.

That’s explain why sometimes I watched the tv news of the Malays victim families looks so calm during interview to their loss of someone. That’s way we can reduce the pain of loss which is spending more time with peoples we caring the most anytime and anywhere. Peoples could carrying their mourn for years as they regretted not perform their part to cherish someone when they are still alive. Always building memories together. Remember the particular moments and carrying the strength to move forward.

In humanity, time factor will heal, whether short or longer timeframe depending on degrees of affection, personal and other circumstances. However, the types of death are not equality like age, way and mannerism of death etc, these are somewhat science and medical etc could not define cogently in definite and absolute. May all always be showered with blessing. Be strong and kind in all situations.

Lost my dad to cancer almost 12 years ago. I was 11. I miss him badly, but I can’t imagine how it was for my mom. To lose her life partner, someone she expected to live with for a long time. My deepest condolence to you. My dad did not wake up one morning. Just like that. I did not get a chance to say goodbye to my dear dad. But we had the best Father's day celebration for my dad less than 2 months before. We all had a fantastic dinner at the beach for him. I made his favorite dishes and homemade apple pie. He was very happy and I was able to capture that moment on my camera. I truly hope your happy memories of your dad will help to sustain you in the difficult time.

I'm very glad Mothership decided to include those who lost their boyfriends/significant other among those who have lost their partners. There is a saying, there are words for those who have lost their wife, their husband, their son/daughter, their parents, but there are none for someone who has lost their boy-or-girlfriend (or someone in the interim stages). I know how much it must pain these people, being unable to even be 'named' after the legacy they leave behind. The pain is equally heartfelt no matter what the status of someone lost.

I lost my dad to cancer in 2007. He was 47 years old. This 31st July, it will be his 15th year death anniversary. Grief is a lifelong process, not an event. It takes time before we truly feel better. Grief is such a deep & painful feeling & it will never go till I breathe my last but I know my dear dear husband would want me to ship up & move forward if not for myself, at least for our girls who we both love so much. Our daughters, bless them, are slowly picking up the pieces, like me, and even though they miss him terribly everyday, they are progressing thankfully just like me, with the exception of some days which can just pop up unexpectedly & which we acknowledge & grieve, then we move forward.

That shows the depth of your love for your ex-wife. Unlike some ppl who remarry the next day after their partners have passed on. The last lady in the video is most likely like the latter. A social butterfly with superficial emotions. You can’t detect any grief or sadness cos she’s most likely dating a new person. A griefing person doesn’t speak like that. She’s almost telling a joke or a happy anecdote. She’s dressed very flamboyantly too, not fitting of the topic. More likely, not wanting to share too much of an ex-partner for fear of offending her new partner. A genuine r/s will take a long time to get over, even if the person is gone.
