Thanks for these series of videos Evan! I'm forwarding anyone that wants to start with TwinCAT motion to these series of videos which without doubt is the best place to start for getting into TwinCAT motion!

Thanks Evan, I really appreciate that you have taken the time to make this tutorial. I have watched the complete series. Although the videos are recorded 5 years ago, the instructions are still remarkably accurate with current (2023) hw and sw.

Thank you so much for the videos! You do it great, very understandable and helpful. Even the way you talk is easy to understand for a non-native speaker. Greetings from Bavaria!

Awesome video series, I am liking all of the detail in your videos. Could you please do a video kind of going over the basics of I/O and the communication between the robot and I/O for people who are newer to this type of work? There are a few things that are a little confusing such as the starting point after choosing a rack and slot, how to get everything communicating. Thanks for all of the videos and awesome content.
@SquishyBrained6 жыл бұрын
What robot type? This series doesn't really talk about robots, and my robot videos don't really talk about IO much. Assuming rack and slot, you are using fanuc? Maybe allen bradley? My recommendation in those cases is to just pick up the phone and get a support person on the phone. They can help you get through the obscure parts. I agree that the IO portion of PLCs and robots is needlessly confusing. I don't have hardware to do more video series right now, but maybe in the future.
@dayontegrimes28616 жыл бұрын
Ok thank you, and yes you were correct in assuming that it is a Fanuc robot. Im not sure what it is exactly but for some reason I am having a hard time grasping communication aspect of the robot to the plc and there are no videos that I Have been able to find that really goes into the basics of it all. I am just trying to get a good fundamental understanding of basic I/O and communication so if you could possibly make a video pertaining to that or if you know of any videos out there that you could recommend then that would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

Ethernet/IP? To what sort of PLC? There should be a few fanuc E/IP comissioning manuals out there but they take them down from the internet and hide them behind the support portal. It is a huge disservice to people like us trying to learn. I can probably help though, email me if needed. Email in description.
@dayontegrimes28616 жыл бұрын
Yea that is one of my biggest upsets with Fanuc. They seem to want to keep everything a secret unless you are willing to pay for it. I tried emailing you but it said that the email address was incorrect.

hello, your videos are really helpfull. I am trying to control a Festo 3 axis system with twincat. I have the hardware configured on twincat and will be using the NC I library. I was wondering if you can tell me something about M functions in the G Code. How can I connect M command with variables in the code. that way i can for example turn on a spindle via G Code. Have a great day.

Hi Squishy again, Did you make any demo videos for matrix operations ? I didn't find any in Pizza Oven series as well.
@SquishyBrained6 жыл бұрын
Yea, that is out of the scope of what I wanted to show... I think there are some helper functions though if needed. Also, check out 'oscat'.
@MuhammadAwais-vi8de6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the prompt response. I managed the other way to use Matrix operations. But now I found new problem , There is no TwinCAT Measurement toolbar in toolbars , I can't use Scope. any way to get rid of this ?

Thank you for all of your videos, they are very helpful. I have a question completely unrelated to this series, but related to Beckhoff TwinCAT PLC. I normally connect the TwinCAT PLC to a computer, and use it using a visual studio IDE. I am struggling with shutting down the system properly. I normally, shutdown the PC, then shut down the router and when It comes to the TwinCAT PLC system, I just take the plug off to cut the power supply to the PLC. Could you please help me how I can turn off the Beckhoff PLC properly. I have looked at the beckhoff instructions, but they only mention that I need to turn off the embedded pc first before cutting the power supply off ( the embedded pc is in the PLC system). Thank you very much.

Hey, your videos have been helping me a lot lately! Thanks for that! But i'm having an issue with my stepper motor (AS1030 connected at EL7031), the warning LED is on and that means "motor power supply not connected". I also have errors at twincat telling me that EL7031 has CoE - Emergency errors... Can't even jog the motor via twincat... is there any noob configuration i probably skipped or it might be something faulty you would recommend getting a technician come here? using 24V / 4.2 A power supply should be enough, its the only connected terminal. Sorry if this isnt the correct place to post this

Hi, your videos are amazing. Thank you so much. Are you going to make videos about Kinematics as well? I am having difficulties about that one.

Probably not any time soon, but beckhoff should help you if you buy the modules from them. I haven't done much with it but I may in the next year or so.

Do you know how to get some sort of timestamp from a Beckhoff PLC. I am trying to get it in UTC.
@evanjensen50235 жыл бұрын
Google for "beckhoff time sources". There is a table of functions that show the precision of various methods. The one I use most is the NT_GetTime I think.

hi , I followed your previous playlist .. I've problem in installation of TwinCAT 3 XAE environment in my personal pc ...... I have got the problem ... When we install TwinCAT , it makes by default log files in one of the users folders........ My user folder name is .... some word in korean language+pc .... and on installation twincat doesn't recognizes that korean word and gives error ,,,, I'm stuck here ... and I can't change the name of the folder because its system folder ... Let me know if there is possibility of fixing such issue ... I can share screen shot of the error ... Thanks

Maybe try making a new user without korean characters, and work in that user? I have no experience with that, but sounds like an annoying problem to have. :(
@MuhammadAwais-vi8de6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Squishy for the reply . I did the same but it didn't work. I changed windows and then kept English language only so in this way I solved this problem. TwinCAT by default make log files in system folder so we need to have a proper system folder without any special characters , good day!
