@okaysamurai Жыл бұрын
Hmm good question. I think the limbs are used in most, if not all, of the motion library because they're based off of bipedal human motions. There is a breathe behavior you may want to look into instead if that's all you're trying to do.

Hi Dave. We are looking to find some information to see if it is possible to create a character in CA with wheels that spin(kids safety ambulance). I know it can be done in AE but I'm new to CA and love the simplicity. I've been going through the forums and your videos and unable to find anything with wheeled characters. Have you already created a tutorial you could link to? Thanks so much!
@okaysamurai Жыл бұрын
Check out the character Jenna on pages.adobe.com/character/en/starter - she has spinning wheels I think. I believe you could do this through the Transform behavior using rotation keyframes or a rotation replay, or make a frame by frame animation and use cycle layers (I think I did this for the spinning saw blades of puppetbot on pages.adobe.com/character/en/puppet-maker).

Hello Samurai! I was just rigging some characters and noticed I do a lot of repetition with replays. And I wondered…. Is there a way of saving replays so that it can be used for multiple characters? For instance… maybe we could create a motion of some sort and then save it into the motion library for the next project?
@okaysamurai5 ай бұрын
Sadly no. The rigging info is very particular to each character and handles don't translate when they're in different hierarchies / positions. I do this with my characters too, and unfortunately it's just something you gotta do as part of the process. It would be awesome if one day we could be more like the generalized treatment that Motion Library uses.

I've mentioned this I think in the Complete workflow videos, especially between walking and stationary characters. Personally I think I have only done one view per motion library use.

@@okaysamurai Thank you Dave. Much appreciated. I ended up finding a pretty simple hack: I moved the desired Rig to the top of the hierarchy. I found that by doing this, the motion gets applied to the rig at the top of the stack. Ideally, it would be great for Adobe to add a tagging system like they did for the Head Turns. (Hmmm, I should add this to the 'Feature Requests' on the forum...) Thanks Dave!

Truly amazing stuff! Is there a way or a plan to create your own custom motion for your library? I’ve been loving this software, bringing live characters into my twitch livestreams. As a professional game animator, I’m always thinking of characters in terms of state machines: looping cycles with different transitions between different cycles. Looping triggers and looping layer cycles would be huge for my workflow! Awesome stuff, big thanks for everything you do!
@okaysamurai2 жыл бұрын
Awesome, just followed you on Twitch and shared with the CH team - fantastic work! There isn't currently a way to make custom motion library additions, you best bet are replays - kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4vMoHqFdtlriKc - but those also don't loop. That being said, you could conceivably make a swap set with a bunch of long replays filled with a repeated action - like a walk or dance or wave hello or whatever - and it would seem like they were looping (when in fact they were just playing long prerecorded animations). Hope that makes sense - just followed you on Twitter, DM me if you run into any issues.

Thanks for your videos I love them, this software is mindblowing 😅 sooo many possibilities ❤
@okaysamurai2 жыл бұрын
From our developer Jun: "It may work in some situations but it's easier to tell users to avoid origin handles. Origin handles rigidly move everything under it, making the virtual ground plane remembered by Limb IK to move too. This causes foot sinking etc. This restriction is not new. Walk behavior has the same issue."

I'm currently working on an animated talk show format where I would be interviewing community members in my sector about their businesses and organisations - and I could really use some advice or suggestions on some specifics I'm having trouble with - such as capturing solid audio from the interviewee if for example the actual interview is conducted over a web call. I'd really appreciate any productive input from any person reading this 🙏🙂

Awesome! One thing you might want to check out is the new podcast.adobe.com - you could request access to try to use their recording tool, or upload your audio files and use their enhance speech functionality, which works really well!

Unfortunately most of the motion library parameters can't currently be keyframed.

When I add walk behavior and record, my puppet’s foot acts like a rubber. In the rigging issues area shows, limb ik: leg mesh has a handle tagged as Draggable separate from handles tagged as hip or heel. How can I fix this problem? Please help me. i want to share two link to understand my problem: (1)kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2ncmXacpbtjqNk. (2) kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6DEpGiPab2Znrc. please help me bro.
@okaysamurai Жыл бұрын
Hard to diagnose here, but I would remove any draggable tags you have in the legs and then add some sticks in the feet to give it more structure. If the problem persists, please upload a screenshot, video, or your File > Export > Puppet file to the official forums at adobe.com/go/chfeedback so we can take a closer look. (Sorry for the late reply, just got back from vacation!)

@@okaysamurai I have two questions. First, I found out that it is possible to use the 2023 version as a pro mode, but I wonder if the pro mode can make animations without any difference from the 2022 version I used before or if it is a beta version. Second, the motion library is impossible except for the designated character, can't I edit it myself? If not, I wonder when this feature will be open and if development is in progress.
@okaysamurai2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the 2023 version is the current shipping version and should work as good or better than the 2022 version. Motion Library is completely editable in Rig mode in Pro mode, as I show step by step in the end of this video here.

Make sure you have the latest version of Character Animator, and then try downloading and opening any character from pages.adobe.com/character/en/motionlibrary to see a working example.

You can rig 4 legged animals and then apply a walk cycle to the front / rear sets of legs separately, it works pretty well.

Hi Dave! I've been watching all your videos on youtube. Thank you for introducing me to this dream. I am hoping that you can help me with the issue I am experiencing with Adobe Character. The camera keeps on waiting. I calibrated it, I tried to uninstall and install it again. The camera works in the other software. I am worried because I use this software for my everyday work. I am begging if you have an idea how to resolve this issue. I visited the adobe community, there were no specific answers. I hope you read this and may God bless you.
@okaysamurai8 ай бұрын
When this happens to me, it means the camera is being used by another resource. I would recommend closing down all other programs and seeing if that helps. If you have access to another webcam, even borrowing one from a friend temporarily, I would try that and see if it's limited to just one camera or both.

In particular this one might help: community.adobe.com/t5/character-animator-discussions/ch-cannot-access-facetime-hd-camera-error/m-p/10153282. If it persists please start a new entry with your specs and camera type and we'll try to help you out more there.
