This is great, but I really miss the harps and choir. The harps and choir evoke more of a "I've just died and this is what I'm going to hear as I move on to the next life" feel...

This version has a more human feeling. Like its coming from the deepest depths of Thom's Soul. However, I do agree with you that the Kid A version is more angelic and ethereal. Im not really sure which one I like better.

this version is way more hopeful than the official track, it's like a breakup song. kid A's version is more like it's about life in general, completely hopeless, but not necessarily sad. the feeling it gives me is more like when you recognize everything around you is out of your control, and decide to just watch life passing you by, no more worries, no more eagerness, just you and that deep calm feeling. i also like thinking that's the feeling you get when you die, the whole sensation i descripted, just that now you feel weightless, you look back at how everything that made life awful for you, everything that kept you from being happy, your worst trouble , all the bitter things life was always full of, they don't even bother you anymore.they become completely irrelevant as your soul comes out of your wasted and tired body, you don't care about it anymore, you are now trascending.

Then, There's the OKNOTOK Cassette version. The piano sounds almost broken, And it feels like losing hope about life and everything but not having the chance to die yet, Therefore living an awful life until your last moments.

It's awesome how Radiohead had changed my life, I don't know how i could be if wasn't they exist. A can feel almost away from my own body when they play, mostly when he says:"Beautiful Angel....". Note: sorry for my bad english, his is not spoken to much here in Brazil.

I think, for the Kid A album version, they should have performed it as normal, then had the third verse and final 'I'm going crazy' chorus as the hidden track. So normal 2-verse version of the song, then the one minute of silence, then the hidden third verse.

Without the last verse, the song sounds more like a suicide note - with the last verse it feels... almost inappropriately crushing. Like heavy in a way that blows the previous verses out of the water, not in a good or bad way. Just almost makes the rest of the song lyrically irrelevant in some way.

But this version is more minimalistic and raw in my opinion,in that way its 0.1 % better than album version. :) But that is just my opinion,there is no need for everyone to agree with me . :)

This is not the earliest version of the song. The original version was Thom recording on like a small 4 channel recording deck in his kitchen. He played it on acoustic guitar and you can actually hear his girlfriend at the time putting away groceries in the background. It was a B-side. The original lyric was actually "white wine" not "red wine". But ill be damned if i can find it anywhere!
