Very Good! Overlord is a must. You can also export elements directly from the Illustrator artboards by right-click and save them as PDF. This could fix some problems too. Also make shure your artboard is in RGB-Color to avoid most of the colorshifts that can occur.

If your project is laggy after converting to shape layers, delete the group1 which is in every group 1 within the contents of each layer. In other words so I make myself clear: in every layer go to contents>groupx>and delete group1. You need to do this for every group in every layer.

Thank you for this video tutorial. Very helpful indeed. What is the downside of working with shape layers instead of illustrator layers in AE in terms of processing speed? Overlord definitely is the greatest tool out there. Is there a way of avoiding system slowdown when working with shape layers for big projects? Any tips and tricks to tackle this issue would be highly appreciated.
@fullhdcoza2 жыл бұрын
Would love to see a comparison / conclusion on this topic. I know that loads of shape layers drastically reduce processing power, but then again so do (continuously rasterized) Ai Layers as they're 'continuously' refreshing vector data. But assume shape layers would act & result the same.. Though a single Ai layer of a vector texture would render a lot quicker than the same texture converted to a shape . Perhaps they are essentially identical only when they're continuously rasterized? Some clarity or conclusion would be great

Hi: Thank you for a great tutorial, and to introduce those interesting tools that will make the workflow from illustrator quite easier. If I decide to export some illustrator files into After Effects, should I draw the artwork in RGB mode in illustrator? In that case, will I still be required to press the continuous rasterization button above the layers in After Effects?

What is the advantage to turning vectors into shapes when in aftereffects. I know it's probably more control, but could someone be granular, and tell me specifics. :)
@janniboy27662 жыл бұрын
Usually just animating the static/rigid shape of illustrator files isn't enough. Converting them into shape layers let's you animate the individual curves and anchor points.
@ralphmoreau27682 жыл бұрын
@@janniboy2766 Thank you! Very well appreciated.
@moe.s66382 жыл бұрын
There are both of advantages and disadvantages. For simple illustrator files converting them to shapes is better to gain more control and animation within the shape layer. For large complex heavy illustrator files I dare not convert them to shapes as it will slow down the whole scene. Rather leave them just as illustrator files and aftereffects renders the scene much faster.

Was really hoping to see file preparation with a file that was created by a graphics designer, not someone who is familiar with animating. I never, but really never get a clean file like this and have to select everything manually. Was hoping more in depth guid that I could send to those people so they will finally understand how and why they need to work in some way, different than for print. It's just never as easy as this.
