The original Burned was so bleak and hopeless, and it absolutely resonated so hard with me when Infamous came out. Listening to Burned 1 and 2 back to back is as close as I can get to time travel then vs now Burned 2 is about leaving the past to die and move forward and choosing yourself. Looking back a decade ago, where I was at to now…this will forever be a personal favorite essiential MIW song. It’s like a celebration of how far I’ve come mentally and physically. I needed this one track to be a hit when I first heard it announced, and it absolutely destroys my expectations.

Normally not one to comment but if this helps even one person I am glad to get this story out. A year ago my wife was diagnosed with cancer and this turned our world upside down. This song came out at the perfect time and while this may be a song about a relationship, my wife took the words in another direction. As we approached her surgery to remove the tumor, too many of these words rang true. "i still feel you crawling under my skin, you left a certain kind of sick that i cant let go of"."That curse you left, it ends tonight, even if i have to tear out my insides" With the surgery behind her, she has years of treatments in front of her but we are trying not to let it control our lives. When disguise came out, I was in a dark place. More depressed than I have ever been. But I moved on, I became happier and I met someone who made me realize I didn't need a disguise.
