I was looking for someone to post about the lyrics! This band has so many strong suits (diversity in vocals, interesting riffs balancing heavy/groovy/bendy/floaty, engaging composition of song structure) but the lyrics are out of this world. How they can be so open to be interpreted yet so specific about personal situations is a true testament to Courtney not only knowing exactly who she is internally but also how she can find a way for others to be able to connect to lyrical content. I've tried to write in this head space and it never is anywhere on the same plane of existence as Spiritbox. I'm constantly blown away and just want to talk about the writing all day long. You're completely right, this track is definitely a grower and not a shower. When i first heard it as it premiered i really didn't like it but after listening to it a few more times i started to find things that i loved about it, especially that last vocal line after she does the high sustain at the end.

I used to be a musician, I had a few close calls with success. Life got the best of me and I hung up what was left of my guitars and sold everything else and in late December 2019 and walked away. I wasn't even interested in music anymore. Spiritbox was the band that brought a little spark back to my musical life. I don't think I'll ever be in a band again, but I may poke around in my own studio just to see if I can make it fun again and to mute the other things that are going on in my life for a while and it is hugely because of this band. I have a small list of bands that have affected me this much. KISS, Gravity Kills, KMFDM, CombiChrist, Prince, Celldweller, and now Spiritbox.

Once a musician, always a musician. Life took me away from my drum kit, still sitting with my parents a decent drive away. I still find myself drumming on my lap and tapping along to the songs I'm listening to, trying to play in my mind, and visualising the rhythm. I wish I had the space to bring the drum kit into the city with me, but apartment space and noise are my limitations. Keep playing around when you get the chance. Even if you're not a hugely successful musician, you can still enjoy playing music.
