Vocalist Chris Motionless said of this track, "'Masterpiece' is a song which I feel embodies the raw and brutally honest nature of what makes 'Motionless In White'. It took me many years to fully recognize that these are the types of songs that truly are the lifeblood of the relationship between the band and our fans. There is something really powerful and magical in being able to write a song that not only expresses your own deepest emotions and feelings, but to write something that may express the feelings of those who find it hard to articulate their own at times. It is on another level of special. In my own experience as a listener, these types of songs have always offered comfort amidst the pain, and Masterpiece is my way of returning that energy back to the universe for others to potentially find and carry with them."

Since Chester's passing away back in 2017 I had never felt that sense of "dude, I really love this guy's voice and the way it fits the music" again... until now. Linkin Park will always be my favorite band ever 'cause they were the ones I found first when I needed to get through some really hard shit. But with the emptiness of not having Linkin Park complete, I thought that I could never feel that emotion and interest on listening to some band's new album ever again. But here they are, Chris Motionless and his band making me fall in love again with true musicians, true human beings that go beyond the "we have to sell music". They just speak for the ones that sometimes can't find a way to talk. They, to me, are giving me back the hope of feeling represented by lyrics that fit some part of my life. For me, to say that you all are awesome it's simply not enough. Thank you for this song, and for all the other songs from you that always help me through rough times. I grew up seeing people bleed and be beaten, i seen people die. I went to over 100 funerals in 1 year. And my family was never there for me. I wish i had a mother that can recognize there wrongs and what they shouldve done, so on. Even if im gone if my parents can learn from that and find happiness in their life. That is all that matters .... and on the topic of suicide, the only time ive seen an ounce of care from mum is 5 years ago when i tried, and was somewhat successful in my attempt as i was only brought back after 38 minutes with permanent brain damage. I dont know how to put this, but i wish it would have broken through to her, to see her get healthy. And find happiness, and to admit ones mistakes and put them in the past. I wish id have had someone care like you. So dont blame yourself, we all are humans, we all make mistakes, and we all experience pain. Youre doing better than my own parents in dealing with this

In her time with me she showed me how great a Mothers love is and how it compares to nothing else. She was selfless and strong in a way that still amazes me.She took it upon herself to make sure we were the ones comforted and that nothing was left unsaid between us. I have 2 daughters and a son. Outlined in guilt, my portrait stares In a gallery where the walls lie bare As I modernize my antique ways True colors can’t escape the brush of fate So how do I apologize, and put the tears back in your eyes? On every canvas that I paint, is a masterpiece made of my mistakes. Illustrate all my pain And set it all ablaze And set it all ablaze So how do I apologize, and put the tears back in your eyes, When every canvas that I paint, is a masterpiece of my mistakes? And in the light of my demise, I see my failures in your eyes Every canvas that I paint, is a masterpiece made of my mistakes.

I imagine my mom singing this to me as a true heartfelt apology got everything she let me go through growing up and everything she inflicted on my siblings and I. I absolutely love this family we all share n respect. I hope to meet you one day n let you know how special you are and how much your lyrics help us all to deal with tragedy and loss as its brutal and doesn't care who we are or how much we already suffer. But out of that comes strength, lessons learned, acceptance, happiness, and the ability to love again. I'm still stuck loving my ex husband 6yrs after he left but I hope I find love again when I feel able to move on. If not, "to love and lose is better than to never have loved at all" x

It seems you have.... Listen man, Sit down. Bring out pen and paper, or just sit down in front of your computer, whatever works. Then breathe. Let all of those feelings well up inside you, and focus on getting everything onto paper. It doesn't have to be good, melodic or even more than just some random incoherent words. Just write whatever you feel. Write every thought that comes to your head. Eventually, it'll all start to make sense, and you can start throwing some words and/or sentences around, and voila! You'll have some pretty epic and personal lyrics! Trust me on this. Crying is a way to express your emotions when all words fail. Make them not fail.
