Vocalist Chris Motionless said of this track, "'Masterpiece' is a song which I feel embodies the raw and brutally honest nature of what makes 'Motionless In White'. It took me many years to fully recognize that these are the types of songs that truly are the lifeblood of the relationship between the band and our fans. There is something really powerful and magical in being able to write a song that not only expresses your own deepest emotions and feelings, but to write something that may express the feelings of those who find it hard to articulate their own at times. It is on another level of special. In my own experience as a listener, these types of songs have always offered comfort amidst the pain, and Masterpiece is my way of returning that energy back to the universe for others to potentially find and carry with them."

Since Chester's passing away back in 2017 I had never felt that sense of "dude, I really love this guy's voice and the way it fits the music" again... until now. Linkin Park will always be my favorite band ever 'cause they were the ones I found first when I needed to get through some really hard shit. But with the emptiness of not having Linkin Park complete, I thought that I could never feel that emotion and interest on listening to some band's new album ever again. But here they are, Chris Motionless and his band making me fall in love again with true musicians, true human beings that go beyond the "we have to sell music". They just speak for the ones that sometimes can't find a way to talk. They, to me, are giving me back the hope of feeling represented by lyrics that fit some part of my life. For me, to say that you all are awesome it's simply not enough. Thank you for this song, and for all the other songs from you that always help me through rough times. I seriously need to see you live, and from here, Santiago/Chile, you can take for granted that I'll be there if you ever come here.

Lyrics: All the stupid lies and the stupid games Left a vacancy in this picture frame A prisoner by my own hands Cause if I can’t have me, then no one can I need to heal what I inflict But I’ll burn that bridge when I get to it As I play roulette with a broken gun I confess these sins with a sharp and spiteful tongue So how do I apologize, and put the tears back in your eyes, When every canvas that I paint, is a masterpiece made of my mistakes? Outlined in guilt, my portrait stares In a gallery where the walls lie bare As I modernize my antique ways True colors can’t escape the brush of fate So how do I apologize, and put the tears back in your eyes? On every canvas that I paint, is a masterpiece made of my mistakes. Illustrate all my pain And set it all ablaze And set it all ablaze So how do I apologize, and put the tears back in your eyes, When every canvas that I paint, is a masterpiece of my mistakes? And in the light of my demise, I see my failures in your eyes Every canvas that I paint, is a masterpiece made of my mistakes.

Let me tell you a story... i dont tell this often but i hope it gives you perspective My mother, and my father, were both emotionally and physically abusive towards eachother and myself. I grew up seeing people bleed and be beaten, i seen people die. I went to over 100 funerals in 1 year. And my family was never there for me. I wish i had a mother that can recognize there wrongs and what they shouldve done, so on. Even if im gone if my parents can learn from that and find happiness in their life. That is all that matters .... and on the topic of suicide, the only time ive seen an ounce of care from mum is 5 years ago when i tried, and was somewhat successful in my attempt as i was only brought back after 38 minutes with permanent brain damage. I dont know how to put this, but i wish it would have broken through to her, to see her get healthy. And find happiness, and to admit ones mistakes and put them in the past. I wish id have had someone care like you. So dont blame yourself, we all are humans, we all make mistakes, and we all experience pain. Youre doing better than my own parents in dealing with this

These last couple days has made me realize just how much the last chorus means to me. Haven't stopped crying since I've realized I've ruined my life and every innocent life in my path. My mind tortures me everyday, destroying me from the inside out. Every mistake flashing before my eyes, the pain and sorry from the guilt I place on myself. Do I deserve to live? because all my life has been one tragedy to the next. Chris and the band, I love you guys. I wish I had as much heart left in me to write such beautiful songs. This song has kept me going, hopefully I make it out in one piece.

It seems you have.... Listen man, Sit down. Bring out pen and paper, or just sit down in front of your computer, whatever works. Then breathe. Let all of those feelings well up inside you, and focus on getting everything onto paper. It doesn't have to be good, melodic or even more than just some random incoherent words. Just write whatever you feel. Write every thought that comes to your head. Eventually, it'll all start to make sense, and you can start throwing some words and/or sentences around, and voila! You'll have some pretty epic and personal lyrics! Trust me on this. Crying is a way to express your emotions when all words fail. Make them not fail.

This song has a deep meaning to me. My mother has been in active addiction for 15 years of my life, and I can't even be sure that she isn't anymore because we hardly talk. I don't think I'll ever get closure or answers about so many questions from my childhood. But this song.... I imagine my mom singing this to me as a true heartfelt apology got everything she let me go through growing up and everything she inflicted on my siblings and I. And even though it's not a real apology from her, it does some sort of healing in my heart. Thank you for this song.

My heart goes out to you. There are ties we make on this earth that are never broken. Memories that are never shed. I lost my Mom to cancer. When we knew her time was coming to an end, I realized she wasn't afraid of leavings this fight behind her. She had a great faith in God. Her biggest fear was for us, her children. In her time with me she showed me how great a Mothers love is and how it compares to nothing else. She was selfless and strong in a way that still amazes me.She took it upon herself to make sure we were the ones comforted and that nothing was left unsaid between us. I have 2 daughters and a son. I know how much a Mom's heart can love. I know the connection between Mothers and their babies.... because they are always your babies♥️. My oldest daughter and I have the same taste in music. When she was still little she was listening and rocking out with me to Korn and Metallica. A few years back she introduced me to Morionless. Today I will call her and tell her how much I love her. I pray for you. And your family.

MIW is one of very few bands that makes music that can genuinely convey an emotion. Chris is honestly one of the best metal singers I've heard, though his voice can sound similar to other singers... but it still has a very specific tonality to it that sets it apart in the best possible ways.

Speak for yourself man, tons of music makes people feel genuine emotion; just not you. And that's fine

@@Walrus101 anyone can make a song. Anyone can attribute emotion to a song. But it’s rare, especially with modern music, for an emotion to be genuinely portrayed. You won’t find this type of emotional inflection in the vast majority of pop music.

@@Ember_Prime Well the point of pop is generally to not be extremely emotional or hitting right at your core. But tons of other music does, and pop still conveys emotion well a lot of times

He has the "pain of loss" that could set him in the realm of Howard Jones IF he focused more....

This song has helped me get through thinking of how I was molested when I was a child. It breaks every canvas that was painted for our family. Reminds me of how I put the tears back into (the child) me and started taking back what is mine!
