I'm sure someone else has mentioned this before, but the concept of weighing hearts goes back to Egyptian mythology and Anubis, who would weigh your heart before you were allowed to enter the afterlife. If it weighed more than the feather of Maat (another Egyptian figure), you were immediately banished from the afterlife. In the video, he weighs their hearts on a scale with a feather, but even the ones who passed the test ended up dead. Really powerful subtext if you understand what's going on.

In my perception this video is a metaphor for people "pouring their hearts out" at religion and that same religion judging them by false means and destroying them internally. So for y'all curious, what's happening in this video isn't 100% just a random gore music video, let me explain a little bit 🙌🏼🔥 In egyptian mythology, when you died, you went to the "Duat" (the Realm of the Dead) as a spirit, where you were to be held a trial in the Hall of Judgement where Anubis (the God of the dead & cementeries) judged you and dictated if you were worthy of going to the afterlife and live eternally yours-okay sorry-and live eternally in egyptian mythology's equivalent to heaven/paradise, called "A'aru" or "The Field of Reeds". The trial where you were judged worthy or unworthy to ascending to A'aru is basically what we're seeing in the video, and it consists in having you heart weighed against the "Feather of Truth". (The Feather of Truth is the symbol of the goddess "Ma'at", goddes of truth and order. It's one of the strongest forces, since it was believed that Ma'at was the one who kept the universe itself in balance.) The more good deeds you did in your lifetime = the less your heart weighs. The more evil deeds you did in you lifetime = the more you heart weighs. In the trial, when your heart was weighted against the Feather of Truth, if the scale stayed balanced or the Feather outweighed your heart. You were found worthy of passing into the afterlife and taken to Osiris (God of the death & the afterlife) and he welcomed you to the Field of Reeds to live eternally. And if you heart outweighed the Feather. You were found unworthy of the afterlife and Ammit the Devourer would eat your heart and your soul would become restless forever. This was called "to die a second time" and was basically eternal nothingness. Anyways, sorry for the huge comment, if you read the whole thing I'm glad you found this intresting, and hopefully it made the video a bit more intresting for you 😂🙌🏼🔥

Chris: Sacrifice peoples hearts People: Die Chris: wtf? XD
@Richard-yw5mn3 жыл бұрын
always read the manual book before sacrificing peoples heart
@3n0d1a3 жыл бұрын
If you already know this then ignore me, I don't wanna be one of /those/ guys on the internet, but I don't think "sacrifice" was the intention here. It's a reference to ancient Egyptian afterlife mythology -- Anubis weighs the hearts of the dead against a feather. If lighter than the feather, they go on to the afterlife. If heavier, they get eaten by a crocodile (I think? Or crocodile god). So he's judging the hearts of the dead.
