I always feel I'm a mixture of both introvert and extrovert. Sometimes its easy meeting new people, other times it's like hard work. I'm in marketing so I learned to be extroverted but now I don't know what I prefer at any given time. Meeting new people or being by myself reading a good book.

I think introverted people are labeled that just because they're more aware. They don't like being around people too much because they know people can say hurtful things about them behind their backs. I think extroverted people just care less about other people and THAT'S why they enjoy mingling with them. They don't care what other people think about them. It doesn't hurt them as much as it would hurt introverts. You're probably an introvert at heart, but you have more confidence in yourself and thus you don't mind what other people say as much. Yet you do still have that consciousness, which is why you feel that you can't label yourself as an extrovert. Honestly, sounds like you're doing all right! Keep up the good work!

I'm by no mean a psychologue But from what I read "meeting New people or Reading a Books" seems like a manifestation of the "openess" traits I just read 5 lines and it certainly does represent you, but those 5 lines could fall under the name of "Open introvert" And what you feel may not be the tension between "extraversion and introversion" but rather the tension between "openess which appeal you to engage with the world as a mean to find new ideas" and "Introversion which invite you to retreat from it" Let's mix it with a high "agreableness" trait and here you are, engaging with the world for new ideas and then find it very hard to retreat from it because saying no is rather hard. (It was more about me in this last part)

I was an extrovert but somehow over the years I've become an introvert. Trying to nail down why that is, is my current struggle. And then when or if I figure that out, who do I want to be? It's an adventure for sure.
