Yes. To be eligible for the Post-graduation work permit (PGWP), “students have completed an academic, vocational or professional training program at an eligible institution in Canada that is at least 8 months in duration leading to a degree, diploma or certificate.” For more PGWP eligibility requirements information, please click here: www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/temporary-residents/study-permits/post-graduation-work-permit-program/eligibility.html A PGWP may be issued based on the length of study program. If the student program is two years or more, they will likely get a three-year PGWP. Again, the final decision is always at the discretion of the visa officer.

Yes, this program is good for future prospects in the trades as they are intended to make you more appealing to employers. In order to pursue a full apprenticeship in Canada as an international student, you will have to apply (or be in the process) for your permanent resident status.
