Hands down, Fossil Gen 5 is the best from the 3. I’ve had mine for 4 months now and it’s a big improvement from the Fossil Gen 4 and 3. Fossil not only makes Skagen’s smartwatches, they also manufacture Diesel’s, Montblanc’s, Emperio Armani’s, Movado’s and many others.

Wear OS is buggy Google will never fix. If you want a slow watch get Wear OS watches. Tizen way smoother of an OS with software updates better OS even with lack of customer support. Love my GWA2

TheIntrovertShadow I was in the same boat recently and I bought both the active 2 and Falster 3 to compare. While I loved the active 2’s design and smooth user experience I ended up keeping the Falster 3 because I use a pixel phone and I really wanted that tight integration between the two devices. If you’re using a Samsung phone I would definitely go with the active.

+1 for the back plate of the Moto360 being held on with screws. The Fossil brand watches have a huge issue with the back plates separating from the watch case--a huge defect--I just had to send back my Diesel to have that issue fixed under warranty.

Great video. I would say that i have had to "three button" design on my Fossil watch for over a year (maybe older version) and it is a horrible design. Fossil is creating a watch that makes sense for normal watch users, but when that middle button is a "pressable" button it CONSTANTLY gets pressed and my watch even got damaged. Since Wear OS doesn't have a "lefty" mode you cant stay away from doing this. I'd suggest putting your watch on again for a few more days and you'll see it happen. Either way thought you may appreciate another perspective. I am sad the Moto is downplaying their hdw though.

Thanks for sharing! I thought of that when I wrote this video, but I did not specifically mention why a two button design is advantageous. I did talk about that a bit in my review of the Fossil Gen 5. I found myself pressing the middle button with my wrist occasionally and summoning the assistant. A lefty mode would be welcomed in my opinion. Seems like an easy thing to implement!

Fantastic video. I'm feeling nostalgic now as my first smartwatch was the Moto 360 with the flat tyre (or tire in the US!) But Android Wear/Wear OS wasn't for me personally so swapped to S3 Frontier, then Galaxy Watch, now Watch Active 2, 44mm. I've just a personal preference for Tizen and use the G Assistant app for Google Assistant. They're all very nice looking watches, but if you can't take a call on a smartwatch, that rules it out for me.

I went with the Active 2 as well, and for all of the same reasons. It's not that I'm a real fan of Tizen, it's just that Wear OS needs a "reboot" before I'd consider it a viable option. I need to check out the G Assistant app you mentioned, though I will say the Bixby junk is actually working better than I expected. Just got my Active 2 yesterday, and love it so far. I'm a tech guy by trade, so it takes a lot on the tech front to impress me. So far, I'm impressed.

@@RADERFPV Yeah, actually Bixby is better, I have both of them in use now. Bixby for the smart home appliances, it's pretty useful, and G Assist for the other stuff.. Enjoy it. And you're right, wear os needs an awful lot of work. I don't think Google is very serious about it though. They don't put much effort into improving it.

I was looking into a fossil gen 5 to replace my 360 gen 1. It seems I can never find something that can surpass it in all areas. I thought this video was a comparison with the original 360, now I have 2 contenders for a replacement thanks :) Also you do the best reviews on smart watches. @@devillucifer6843 I upgraded because Google broke the 360, However Google also broke the Garret HR. Mostly the Google assistant doesn't work. I still get my notifications etc. Google pay is the best, being able to just swipe on your wrist is a feature I can't do without. Battery life is fine, gets me through the day with all the settings on. I like the extra buttons and mapping them to things. It sucks Google canned Google play music, I used to be able to play music directly from the watch. It's fast enough. If they returned it back to the way it was when it was released I'd say it was the perfect watch. However not just for smatwatches but for everything, I've lost a tonne of faith in Google, but there's not much of any alternative.

Oh wow I am really sorry about that! I have such a long video queue and sometimes I make videos and decide not to release them. That was a video that I planned on making and may have even filmed but then decided that other videos were better. I will certainly give my opinion here: I really like both the Active 1 and the Versa 2, however not having GPS in the Versa 2 is a major drawback for me. The Active 1 also has a touch bezel now (I have not tried it since it was updated). I have always been a big fan of round watches as well, so the Active 1 would certainly be my pick. The Versa 2 is very nice for some other reasons though. I like the batter life very much too! As I mentioned in my full review, I was getting about a week per charge! A rectangular screen also has its benefits as well (i.e. apps are more easily adapted from a phone screen). The fitbit operating system is very clean and simple which is an added plus, but Samsung's Tizen OS integrates very well with Samsung devices. On top if that, I also really like the Samsung health app much more than the fitbit app. So in conclusion, both watches are great. Fitbit is a simple brand with a decent battery life. Overall a robust independent watch that plays well with everyone and is loved by many. Samsung offers more features and (in my opinion) a better looking device. I would choose the Active 1 personally. I hope this helps!

The reason for not having a speaker is probably because some users prefer not use the watch as a phone. Like a cross between a smart watch and fitness tracker. Its that very small gap in the market they are trying to fill I think.

Sad that Motorola/Lenovo screwed up the Moto360. Originally it had a true edge to edge display with a flat tire for the light sensor. Now everyone claims to have a full round display, but they really just inset the active display to avoid the light sensor leaving a thick black screen bezel. Surprised nobody has found a way to go edge to edge with the light sensor off the face somewhere by now.

Got the Falster 2 last week to replace my 1st gen Moto 360. The lack of speaker doesn't bother me, since it's not something I've had in all my years with the 360 anyway. I like the smaller size - and really appreciate the silly little touches like the animation that pops up when you attach the charger. And considering I picked it up for less than a hundred bucks (Canadian!) ... I can't think of any reason to want the 3 instead. The Wear 3100 chipset isn't any drastic upgrade over the 2100. Design is the same. Software is the same. Basically, it's just the speaker. I'm good without that. So far, very happy with it. I hope it lasts as long as my original Moto 360 did!!

Never buy fossil watch I bought this last year gen 5 watch .battery doesn’t last more than 5:30hr ,watch overheats ,touch does not work properly , you will find green light continously blinking from its sensor and now my watch does not even turn ON . The Fossil Gen 5 watch has issues with GPS, it will not connect unless you are connected to your phone. The build in GPS does not work, Google it and you will find forum threads on this I don't know why none of the reviewers mention this You cannot connect to GPS unless you have your phone with you, which makes the build in GPS useless

For same prace I chosen MOBVOI TICWATCH 4G/LTE because it has secont transparent LCD super battery efficient screen so battery can last longer and it has 4G/LTE networks. Although it has older procesor it works great because of 1 GB of ram. This smartwatch has something special and that is second screen. For price MOBVOI TICWATCH 4G/LTE is better. Now when SKAGEN FALSTER 3 is 50% off it is better choice. $245 in US. Very good price.
