I don’t understand why Mr Mobile doesn’t get more recognition. His reviews are based around real world use explains to us the pros and cons of not only using an item but also owning an item. Asbjørn Rindom Christensen I may understated his recognition, it was more so that the videos don’t attract as many views as ‘flashier’ videos. I find these use videos as the best examples of “what tech is like to live with”. Certainly would agree that his recommendations are essentially a quality deal. ☺️

You could probably argue that being open source Android needs tech companies to make the most of it's offering and watch makers aren't exactly renowned for their software dev teams. The other problem is the lack of capable CPU, the 3100 didn't exactly deliver to expectations.

Drop support? Wear OS has kept the watches updated way back to the old Moto 360 gen 2 & Huawei gen 1 with battery life up to 2 days. Samsung is horrible, my Gear S3 will probably never be updated, and now they are calling the Galaxy watches old.

@@randyb3576 totally agree, I had a galaxy LTE watch for all of 2 weeks. 3rd party apps were very buggy, Bluetooth shocking, overheated and shut down making calls and don't get me started on Bixby. Sure, non-Samsung phones need additional Samsung apps loaded when you pair the watch but it works near perfect. A lot of battery woes with the Gen 5 is still solely due to Snapdragon wearable SoCs still being bleh in performance. Of course I'm sure further time developing a better hardware platform for WearOS would help too but it's still a matter of the hardware being a sluggish and the software being too buggy at times. Basically, Qualcomm needs to get off their ass and Google needs to allocate some people from the Pixel crew or wherever to make WearOS better as well.

Mr. Fisher, i too am a smart watch user. I have an Asus Zenwatch 2 WI501Q model, it may be a 3 years old watch & uses Qualcomm MSM8926 Snapdragon 400 chip. Have been using this watch from early 2016 to current. Hasn't disappoint me at all. It has mic & speaker, Wi-Fi connectivity, tough Gorilla Glass 3; so many time my watch on my wrist hit walls, door handles, the glass survives having no scratch on it. It may not have a heart rate sensor (which i don't bother not having), it has an app; ZenWatch Manager, where the watch can be a camera view-finder. arrange my YT music/video playlist on my phone, cast it to my chromecast, used my watch to change the music/video playlist. The chipset maybe old & cannot compete with the current 3100, but as long as this watch still in working order I will still use it. I am in the market of purchasing new smartwatch, i would like to see a re-review from you on Asus smartwatches. I know those watches are no longer in the market, but i would like to see a YT influencer re-review it.

The Fossil sport is now down to $99 on amazon. Skagen recently discounted the falster 2 down to $69. My gen4 explorist is down to $120 now, and the $500+ Casio WSD-F20 is down to $155. At those prices the WearOS flaws I think become more tolerable. So it seems like all the WearOS watch prices are dropping. The new fossil garrett models and the latest Casio WSD-F30 are down to $220. Since the new SD3100 is the same thing as the SD2100, with a dumb-watch "battery power mode" thrown in... all these watches are really the same thing. RAM being the most significant internal difference. I've been on Android wear / WearOS now since 2014. The one thing I ABSOLUTELY love about this platform is Google does not force-obsolete the old devices over time. I still get updates for my old moto 360, and even though the battery only lasts 6-7 hours, and the snapdragon 400 is painfully slow for anything beyond basic notifications... at least its still going. I still like the way it looks so I wear it around the house. The moto360 in 46mm is still a larger screen than anything else in 2020. I mean the actual pixel array from edge to edge spans a larger functional area.

I use my smartwatch to listen to music and audio books on the bluetooth Galaxy Buds headphones while I practice hitting balls on the golf range. This is extremely useful and convenient because I no longer have to put up with the annoying heavy smartphone swinging around inside the pocket of my shorts during my golf swings. Anyone else here use their smartwatch instead of smartphone for music while doing outdoor activities?

I switched from full wearos smartwatch to a Fossil hybrid smartwatch. It's the perfect compromise for me. Everything it has (mainly notifications) work perfectly, the battery lasts 6 months, and it looks so much better. I will not be switching back, hybrid is the future in my opinion.

That's why I bought a Galaxy fit. To try out wearables. And so far I'm liking it; The instant notification display and sleep tracking features are awesome. I think I might get a Galaxy Watch next year.

I thought my watch was just bugging but I guess others are having problems with the notifications not appearing as well

@Marvin Zimmerman I have the Fossil Gen 5 Carlyle. The black watch with the brown leather strap.

@Marvin Zimmerman I still like it but the only problem is the notifications. Hopefully they release an update soon that addresses that.

@@minjaresisaac don't know if you figured it out. But someone in the comments said to go to settings > apps and notifications > set do not disturb when off wrist (toggle this off). It's been working for me more consistently since I've done this. Hope it helps

Can you review newer Hybrid Smartwatch es? I have used the Fossil Hybrid Grant gen.2 (dark blue dial with gold Roman numerals, brown leather strap) for four years and have not found a better one yet!

Love your honest reviews, I think based on your other video i'll go for the fitbit versa because of price.

Thank you for your reviews. Looking for a solid wearable has been difficult and the cost is hard to justify if it's not exactly what you need. I have a fitbit versa and I'm happy with it, but looking for a larger variety of smart features, so I'll be looking to be upgrading in the next year. Your reviews are so great to help me know the differences, pros, cons in betweens.

So.... I still have a 2015 Huawei watch (the first one). It still gets Wear updates and from what I see in this video, it actually runs the software better (no weird bugs) and smoother (no lag when scrolling) than these 2019 watches do..... it still has 2-day battery life (which seems about the same as these new watches) and.... it has the thinnest bezels from any smartwatch I have seen so far. How can these new ones have a thick black band around the display when the screen of my nearly 5 year old watch truly goes edge to edge? It seems they have gotten worse instead of better...... I still think the Huawei watch looks better, too. It's design truly was ahead of it's time it seems....

I bought the 3rd Gen Q Explorist because the looks were absolutely beautiful, but after a week, I was so annoyed because the middle crown was soooo sensitive. I end up finding a work around but it did not always work so I still end up triggering some on the watch, plus it was slow. So I sold it. I did not have the same experience with the moto 360 that was a wonderful device outside of the crack backcase issue.

Have you tried the fitbit versa 2? If you haven't, you could give it a shot. It doesn't do much but it got all the basics right and it's very reliable. After Google's acquisition, it recently got an update with many improvements to the software. Like I said, it's doesn't do much but what it does, it does it well.

Irfan Shaikh I actually just bought the series 3 over the series 5 like a week ago and I don’t regret it. Was worried I was buying 2 year old tech but it’s still an awesome watch.

I'm using my Huawei watch 2 which i think is just over 2 years old. I have had zero hardware problems. As for software I have had a few minor bugs here and there but over all for something this old I'm happy to hold on to it for another year. It lasts just about a day on maximum usage. Costs 100 bucks, had a speaker, no crown, great screen, 7/10 software speed and a minimal design and fully water proof. . Not all of those are pros depending on the user but all I'll say is I'd be hard pressed to move on from this watch to a fossil. But I guess i have to use it to fully decide if it worth the upgrade. I really do wonder if some of these bugs are down to the watch maker instead of wear OS. Only some I get that wear OS is a joke but I do wonder.
