I work on the carrier side of this business and always recommend Motorola. They have the best interoperability of all phones and you simply get better signals and internet speeds. Nobody knows radio communications like Motorola. Their chipsets are absolutely superior. There is a reason Motorola is in every police car and ambulance.

Motorola is so much more user friendly compared to other androids. I've used Samsung, LG, Nord100. None of em come close. The interfaces is just messy. Moto is nice and clean and the moto actions. No other phone or iPhone gots that.

Update on the power model I upgraded to android 11 and now my phone drains the battery, even my wife's stylus phone has longer battery life than my power. Her phone has a 3500 ma battery to my 5000 ma battery. I should have left android 10 on my phone. I don't want or even use the new features. If I knew how to go back I would. Linux phone is the only answer to our phone problems, if the pine phone had a better camera and I'm sure there are other problems needed to be addressed as well.

@@patfisher22 yes true but Motorola has good phones in regard of connecting to cell and wifi. I am happy with both of my moto G phones. The stylus is better than the power but with android 10 my power had good battery usage. Not so good on Android 11. New is not always better.

the camera sucks on this phone I have I just accidentally bought this POS just two weeks ago and it's been a headache and Metro PCS service is a POS service also and I am very disappointed with both of these and they should flush their service and this phone down the toilet and make some new stuff and a lot better service

and the phone just puts apps wherever it wants to? whenever I download an app... I'm trying to have the option of choosing where I want to put it ...either on the memory card or not .. well first you can't choose.. it's forcing me to not be able to choose half the time ?? this phone is frustrating the hell out of me I guess the notation is better I couldn't tell you if the phone reception sound quality is better because I can't even use the phone most of the time with this metro PCS POS service in the middle of nowhere.. Pensacola Florida .. just a million people a week drive past here on the interstate and clog it up every afternoon why is my antenna dancing up and down from 5G to no service to LTE??? I guess we don't have service over here still? this phone is still brand new I've had it in case ever since I bought it I don't know maybe the antenna inside is it put together right or something? maybe chance of that I guess ...?? I don't hear anything rattling ...it still looks brand new at this point I don't know if the phone's broken or the service is broken.,.. they both need to be fixed that's for sure please help and I would love to trade this phone for a nice AT&t or Verizon phone or iPad mini if anyone has one laying around they would like to trade I got a brand new stylus with case with money and card holder in the back someone trade me for a decent iPad mini please? haha

I accidentally stumbled across the motorola phone brand when I upgraded from my samsung galaxy s4. I'm glad I got my Moto g7 play two years ago. It has held up very well. I now absolutely love motorola for it's reasonably priced good quality phones! Samsung was once the same, but the got greedy and became Apple!

I get why they changed the speaker. You want to keep it a budget phone, and you add new things, you have to take away others so the price doesn't skyrocket. Motorola isn't going to take a profit loss to give us everything. But this is a very good review. UPDATE.....Have had the Moto G stylus for a few months now. It does lock up on me sometimes. It gives me issues with Google voice, many times with endless loading and not displaying a page, many times I have to reboot the phone.. It's a good phone for the price, but it has its issues.

I had the Moto g last year. Frankly I wanted to shoot it. I was going to go with the Samsung a51 but I saw this on the spur of the moment and looking over the specs I decided to go again with a motorola. I bought mine for 179. It redeemed himself over my previous motorola. I'm almost 60 years old and I'm not a tech junkie and so frankly I mainly bought it for the camera and the storage that I didn't have on the other phone. I have not been disappointed. I appreciate this review. By the way, I do have an aviation GPS installed and the screen size is perfect for how I use it in the airplane.

I've been running a Stylo 2 (!) for many yearsand it's bee getting a little wonky. I thought about the LG Stylo 6 but it just doesn't cut the mustard. So I have the Moto G Stylus on order, alng with a good case and memory card, so wish me luck! 😊

@@dawglog8940 the only thing I miss about Lg is the hold app switcher to multi task, moto handles it so poorly, there's an option where you swipe across the middle of the screen 1 way then the other to activate it. And the android 11 app switcher sucks, but besides that the 4gb of ram is nice

Nobody is comparing a $1,000+ phone with a $300 phone...except the reviewer, they are the only ones. If someone is willing to spend well north of $1,000 for a phone, they are not looking for a cheap phone in any way, shape or form. I really wish reviewers would stop comparing a $1,400 phone with a $300 one and claiming the $300 is not as good. Talk about obvious.

So it's good to compare so that if your purpose for buying an expensive phone is 123x and you find out in a review that a $200 dollar phone also has 123x. Then of course the choice would be the $200 phone for more bang for your buck. So I respectfully disagree with you. I think you had me with the 6.8" screen in combination with the stylus. I am 73 years old so I don't need the latest and greatest, fancy big name phone! I want to make a grocery list, period. And use the stylus to scroll and click. I don't care about cameras or the number of speakers. The ability to add additional storage with an sd card is also useful. Definitely going to check this phone out. :)

The actual biggest competitor of this phone is the Pixel 4a. It's only $50 more and receved much more mainstream recognition and praise. And they both feel like the only sub $400 phones worth buying. The Pixel has a better screen, a marginally faster processor and the famous Pixel camera, but personally I'd take the Stylus for its bigger screen and battery, and the stylus itself, that are more relevant factors for me personally.

I just bought this phone. I was told by my salesman that any camera phone would be a upgrade from my old one since it only has Two back cameras. My old one was the Motorola One Hyper, which is a 64 mp camera. I was really disappointed when I took home my phone and started filming and it was grainy. But your video made me feel better in my purchase knowing that this is one of the better phones and it didn't break my bank.

Yup G Stylus (2021) is the only Motorola phone I'd consider somewhat of an upgrade to albeit... Already owning the 2020 variant with it's awesome dual speakers, having paid $100 less, and it too running Android 10, the (2021) variant isn't enough of an upgrade IMHO to bother switching from last years. On the other hand, if Motorola had retained the dual speakers, upped RAM to 6GB, launched w/11, then my opinion would likely differ.

Appears they've become infatuated with 720p displays, region/market device designations are now by "series" and not model numbers (started w/G8 Series)... G10/30 are about to be released for "other" markets with, you guessed it, big 720p displays, launch w/Android 11 (why (2021) series didn't dunno), and G30 has an 128GB/6GB variant. So if these are signs of what to expect from here on in doubtful 2022 is going to look much better for "G" Series.

My Samsung 8 plus cost me $850 and I dropped it couple of times so the screen and back had dozens of noticeable cracks on it. So I dropped the Moto G twice on solid concrete and not even a scratch. Plus the phone is just a reliable as the Samsung although the Samsung may have some better features this Moto does just about everything a normal user would expect.

Almost bought one. If Android could ever get wifi calling to be ubiquitous across all phones it would be a game changer. Too many places that wifi calling is a must for me. So far, I've had to stick with provider models to get the baked in wifi calling firmware.

I'm still sporting the Moto X Pure from 2015. This thing is bullet proof and still takes better pictures than most with it's 21 Mp camera. I love this damn phone! I wouldn't even be shopping if I would have bought the 32 GB internal storage instead of the 16 GB.

I had the Moto X Pure 32Gb with the soft back. The soft back pulled away about 3 years later snapping a ribbon cable inside rendering the phone inoperable. I liked the phone until that happened.

I've had this phone for about 3 weeks. It's been an absolute nightmare. Does it look nice? Yeah... But it's a real pain to use. It's not easy to find support to get the most basic help, either. It took me 2 weeks to get feedback letting me know I had to buy a 3rd party app to load my music library and play it! Would you give us some tutorials about things like that (loading your music library on the phone), so that every person switching from iPhone to Android won't be aggravated so badly.

I know what you mean I called and got support but I couldn't understand what she was telling me on a basic level understanding on phones l have. I don't know how to adjust the keyboard size. I can't even make folders like 14 family 14 paying bills one for insurance, one folder for organizations all that stuff.. this is my second Motorola phone my first stylist still the same problem can't make folders. I have been considering the 2021 Stylus. Currently have a Motorola e5. Have had it a year but checking on the initial release and it was brought out in 2018 I believe so it's time for an upgrade. Plus especially with my new career I'm going to be starting it will help me out with that also. Basically everything I need and not having to pay a hefty amount.

I have a 1st gen Moto Z Force. It's still an excellent phone to this day, but out of support, and the battery is toast. I like how long they kept giving me OS updates (and I still got a security update a few months ago), but I'm concerned that for a non-flagship phone, they will not do so.

Excellent review. Fair and thorough. I recently purchased an unlocked Moto G Stylus 2021 from Motorola with the 2-year MotoCare protection plan. It replaces an old LG Stylo 2 Plus. In the past, I have owned excellent but expensive Samsung phones and a Google Nexus built by Motorola. I also recently purchased an excellent UAG Scout series military-grade case for my new Moto G Stylus that I am very pleased with. I like this phone very much, because it delivers quite a bit of nice quality across the board, yet is a definite bargain at $299 (or less). It also offered more appeal to me than the LG Stylo 5 and Stylo 6, because of LG's recent indications of its possible withdrawal from the phone market or sale of its phone operation to another company. That would be unfortunate, considering the innovations that LG has brought to the industry table. Of course, a little homework tells anyone interested that Motorola also has a commendable history of industry innovations. Though Motorola's Android updates may be sluggish, I have more concerns and uncertainty regarding the future of updates and support from LG or its heir-apparent successor in the phone market. Everybody keeps complaining about Motorola only being water repellent . . . How many iPhone and Samsung come out the box waterproof and able to be submerged in water . . . You're talkin about a cell phone and not a submarine . . . And if you can buy a case to make iPhone Samsung waterproof then you can do the same for Motorola . . . I've seen a lot of iPhones and Samsung phones . . . And I've never seen one come straight out the package that could be submerged in water . . . So why is everybody beating Motorola to death because it's only water-repellent . . . Here's an idea don't put your phone in the water . . . And if your phone accidentally drops into some water that is what phone insurance is for . . . Your TV isn't water proof so why do you expect your cell phone to be . . . They're called electronics for a reason . . . You don't take your hair dryer and your TV are not waterproof . . Do y'all crying make such a big deal about them . . . In the cell phone you get as far as features . . . You only get luxury features when you pay luxury prices for it . . . Cell phones are not government cheese . . . Cell phones are like automobiles you get what you pay for . . . So quit your crying about the features and the phone that you chose to buy . . . If you want a better phone than go out and buy it . . . You can't buy bicycle expected it to have the luxuries and handle like a Lamborghini . . . People are stupid .

Shame that Motorola got rid of the stereo speakers don't know why companies keep downgrading their phones Samsung is done the same thing they downgraded when they upgrade they downgrade they took away the headphone jack they're taking away expandable storage and a lot of their phones and they're making me consider other companies that I would not have considered before because they're doing these things

After learning LG Smartphone division is shutting down. I have to find a replacement for my stylo 5. So this one seems a replacement. I need a stylus pen I can't use my fingers on a phone so this is a plus having a pen.

All Moto phones, if not every smart phone, should have the fingerprint sensor on the side power button. I don't know why that's not more common. 🤔

I have the older version of this phone and it was awesome until the android 11 update. That update destroyed the battery life of my phone. Will this new version update to 11 as well? It comes stock with Android 10.

It's an actual downgrade from the 2020 model. Motorola took away the stereo speakers tuned by Dolby in the 2021 model! Now it only plays sound on one speaker at the bottom of the phone.

I got last year's model in April it received 2 updates the first week. One of the updates was to Android 11. I liked it more when it was running Android 10. I also got the phone at $100 off. As far as I am concerned the stylus isn't anywhere different than using the LG's. The only difference is the Moto is stock and LG, Samsung have superior gallery, music apps compared to the google crap.
