In 50 years of riding ...the best all-rounder I ever had.. fond memories of hacking around France on mine. Handled beautifully, very reliable, sounded great, shaft drive, good brakes... great bike!!

So, way back then, they had linked braking, that has become common in recent years. Norton fastback 😍. Some great engineering comes from Moto Guzzi. Even twin front discs on a 500 👍. Sounds nice too, a little Ducati like. Moto Guzzi is a survivor, still making Decent bikes that are also survivors, built to last. Congrats to Moto Guzzi!

So nice bike! I own a breva 750 2009 model and I m really happy with her but I think that the real guzzis are those before moto guzzi sold to the piaggio group, I would love someday to own a monza or even better LE mans (dream bike to me)

Exelent camera work, and the audio is topnotch to. Long, long ago I was the owner of a v50 Monza. I drove the guzzi from the Netherlands, to Finland, and back. The bike never missed a beat. And yes,....I still miss the guzzi😕

Had the v35 82 model back in 91 loved it. It had pistons from the 500 cc so it was about 440cc. I love the sound of these bikes and they are quite reliable. Now that I'm 54 years old thinking to give my vstrom 1000 and buy an 850tt instead. 😊

The only bike I want is an old small block Guzzi. A V65 would be great with the extra torque but a V50 Monza would be fine as well. What a brilliant machine. Pushrods, Air cooled, shaft drive. It's about as low maintenance and easy to repair as you can get. And the noise of that V twin is just glorious. Moto Guzzi really engineered soul into their bikes just like Alfa engineered soul into their cars. Except the Guzzi's are reliable.

I owned a V50 forty years ago. It was my first motorcycle. I bought it used. I have good memories of it. It wasn't very fast and powerful, but it was nimble and had a good handling and braking. The maintenance was very easy and not expensive. It was a good beginner bike. Now at the age of sixty, I consider buying the V7 when I will find my Harley too heavy for me. But sadly Moto Guzzi abandoned the dual front disks and the coupled braking system.

Thanks Dave. I wasn't sure if I'd captured the audio on this aswell as I had on the Norton because it had a much quieter exhaust. Although the wine of the gear box comes through and I believe that is one of Moto Guzzi's characteristics
@jeffslade18923 жыл бұрын
@@classicmoto1535 The current V7 evolved from this bike rather than the earlier big-block V7. The transmission whine is a Guzzi characteristic, some do it more than others. The V50 there seems to like using higher revs than the 750, and hence changing gear more often. Personally I don't like Guzzi with 'loud' silencers, there is plenty of roar when you open up, and the whine and burble when pottering.

How heavy is the clutch on a V50 compared to a current V7/9? I have a 850 V7 which is great and has a light clutch and am thinking of getting an older Guzzi, but I have some arthritis in my left hand.

Being short in the R'sed department (5'6") I always fancied a Moto Guzzi. I can get a push-bike to fit, but not a motorcycle costing much much more! How was the handling, and does it have the original wiring?
@classicmoto15353 жыл бұрын
As far as I'm aware the wiring is still original. There is a feeling of flexing you get from the back end but it's more of a characteristic than a hindrance. The bike turned really well and feels incredibly light once it's going. He seat height would be perfect for the shorter rider and although it's an older 500 it isn't far off the same horsepower as the v7's, loosing out mainly on the torque. I've got to say having now ridden it that I'm casually looking at old Guzzi's on ebay. 😂
@richardbrookman64153 жыл бұрын
I had one, a 1979, same colour. Not the fastest, but I think the nicest bike I ever had. Handling was sweet and very secure. Sold it for a 350 Power Valve - not my best decision. It's still taxed so it's on the road somewhere. GAT904T where are you? Would love to know what happened to it. Great video, thank you.

I'm not sure about a newer V5 but surprisingly, it's almost the same power as the v7 that is in the video and it is quite a bit lighter.
