This is where I went to college. Been meaning to come back and revisit and finally got around to riding 4 hours north and having a look. All these memories come flooding in.

I do a lot of the same sort of thing on a semi-annual basis - revisit childhood haunts, school, old jobs - keeps you in touch with who you were and informs who you are now. It's a good thing to do. One of the beautiful aspects is doing it on a bike - you are much more in touch with the world just riding in the first place; I find it strangely relaxing to do these sorts of 'nostalgia tours' personally.

Yea I've done a few of these in the last year. Reconnecting with old friends and old places. It's kind of bitter sweet. Not to be all lame and all, but god damn it does the time fly.

I went to SUCO in the late 70s. I was there when you guys won the NCAA Division I soccer title. Even though we shared the same beautiful city we never mingled. There were Hartwick bars and SUCO bars. Not that we hated you guys we just ignored you. Even though I passed by your campus all the time on the way to mine I never went in. Now I regret it. Nice campus thanks for the tour.

That was still the fact when I was there 97 to 01, Suco and Hartwick bars - why? no idea. I been to a few Suco parties but Hartwick parties were always coooler - probably because I went there. So silly. Thank you for watching and sharing your memories, my friend! Enjoy the day.

It was that way in the mid to late 80’s. “Today’s” was the Hartwick bar. I did take a class at SUNY Oneonta. Hartwick’s campus is so much prettier. State has more of a converted prison feel. Hartwick has red brick faced buildings vs. Oneonta’s gray cinder blocks. So many more buildings have been constructed in the past 30+ years, yet the student population has remained unchanged. Back then, most students moved off campus for junior and/or senior year. I don’t think living off campus is an option now.

That house that you pointed out at 10:30 has been my apartment for the last 6 years now ever since I was still a student. My wife and I just bought our first home but I was sad to finally leave that apartment behind me. I think I was at work while you were driving past lol

I remember walking past that house on the way to the bars, back when I didn’t have a car. Today’s bar was the Hartwick bar back then. I graduated in 1989.

@@ducatinyc my first or second year living there was the last year of it being a party house, I think because it stopped changing hands the parties slowed down and eventually stopped, I still threw parties once my friends and I had the whole house but the parties got smaller and more intimate.

A ‘65 graduate. Great transition for me from innocent 17 yr old. Good education; small enough for personal contact w/ faculty - even had one sr. class w/ coll. Pres. Just wish it were more stable financially and show a bit of enrollment growth.

How is it that the college can add so many more buildings over the past 30+ years yet enrollment has stayed the same? Thanks for the tour. I graduated in 1989 and haven’t been back until now via your tour. It makes me want to get a bike. I fell in love with the architecture and couldn’t wait to attend but after 4+ years I couldn’t wait to leave. The harsh winters took its toll. But now, sometimes I miss it. Overall, a great education.

I think enrollment went up a bit, especially since they build all those new dorms. Also tuition probably doubled - who knows. I graduated in 2001. I went back about 2-3 times now, I always swing by on my moto and do a few loops. I went there for a few reasons and none of them were worth while but.... it was a good experience overall.

@@ducatinyc After I graduated I heard that the Administration required students to live on campus. I lived in Saxton and Alumni Hall (it is next to Saxton, I think it has a different name now). I was a senior when they started building the Apartments. But I lived off campus because it was cheaper. After graduating I moved to the West Coast. But I moved back to the East Coast a few years ago because my dad was sick. I’d like to see the campus during the semester when students are around. During your tour I kept thinking “where is everyone?” It’s a three hour drive from where I live in PA so I might take a drive up before I go back out West. I enjoyed the view from your bike. Have you kept in touch with any of your Hartwick friends? I went to an Alumni gathering in San Francisco several years back.

@@MsRotorwings yea this was in August I think, in the summer, so everyone was gone. This is about 4+ hours from NYC so a long haul for me as well. Sadly no, i do not keep up with too many Hartwick folks to be honest, which is a shame. Perhaps I should dust some of those relationships off.
