Motobilt 2012+ JKU Gas Tank Install

Motobilt made a great tank. It was quite a bit of work to install. There were gaps in instructions but I was able to work through them. I included most of what I did to get this tank installed on my 2012 Jeep Wrangler JKU. Enjoy!

Thanks for the video! I have an 18 JKU and have found that with the Clayton tank skid the driveshaft hits the skid. Currently doing a little fab work on the skid ad goping it will have enough clearance but if not its getting a rear tank. My biggest concern was track bar clearance and if it would work with the metalcloak evap canister kit. Now i know!

If this would have existed a few years ago... would have been so nice. glad I found it though. I have the worst back purge when I fill and it 95% of the time spits gas back out when it auto shuts off at the station. does your setup do that? I am ripping mine all apart to redo it.

@@nicholasbaldwin1674 mine overflows. I’m going to add a one way flap valve in line. If it’s not filling, my guess would be venting

@@krawlerkingdom fills, but yeah overflows or pukes back up and all over the side of the Jeep and the ground. one way valve would do the trick, if you find something, and think of me, drop me a link, thanks.

Awe you went motorbilt .. I assumed genright.. I really want to do the swap also but I’m concerned with not passing smog in ca with it

My good friend Nick went with Genright. I helped some with it. I can’t speak on smog but you retain full evap canister on both setups. How you handle your exhaust is individually just like where you put your evap.

Did you extend your lever wire for the float to read right? Any issues there?

The level runs as normal with the pump extension. It doesn’t read the same pace on the top and bottom half of the tank as usual though

@@krawlerkingdomthanks. So you don't have any issues with check engine lights etc? Someone mentioned if there's a speraric reading from the level it'll throw a code.

Do you know if this relocation allows for BOTH superduty axles to be used for a 1 ton swap instead of having to get a 14 bolt?
