Some interesting changes and if I was just now shopping for a Diavel, I'd likely be sold on it, BUT I bought the '21 model and looking from that perspective? No regrets. I love the rawness of the twin's torque and personally feel they hit the aesthetic sweet spot with the 1260. The trellis, especially in red, is to me iconic, so I'm happy to have committed prior to it's demise. Not a huge fan of the quad exhaust exits, but the Pillion seat cover is a sweet standard feature.

The Diavel was my gateway drug from a custom V-twin cruiser and a big V-twin touring bike to the sport bike fleet I ride today Ninjas ZX14R, ZX10RR and H2 Full Brock’s Stage-2 @ 284hp. So be careful if considering a Diavel. Ironically as I’m turning 60 in a few months I am considering a little more comfortable riding position and may want to return to the morphidite Ducati for the sake of my jacked up C-spine 🤪

The 2021 1260S was my first foray into the "cruiser" bike. As I got older, I wanted to move away from the sport bike scene but still wanted something fun to ride that was a bit more comfortable. Maybe I was too tall for it or just too used to sport bikes, but it was a bit too uncomfortable for me at highway speeds. Anything over 70 and I got beat up by the wind pretty good. It was pretty tiresome on long trips. It is a gorgeous bike and was great cruising around town. However, with all that power, it begged to get opened up on the highway. Still, I ended up selling it.

Lucky U. Not to be duped .!! I have been a loyal Ducati owner since 2012 .Currently own 3 of their bikes.I had a nightmare experiance with a dealer when my bike went in for it's 1st yearly service in June 22. They damaged the oil sump, it had to be modified by another dealer. .I was forced to pay for the damage repair.I took the matter to Ducati H.Q Bologne. Customer service stinks .Was so shocked by H.Q attitude. No money refund ,no apology,from dealer or Bologne. Bikes are now so crazy expensive. The New V4 engine is an acholic on fuel.Thanks but no thanks.I will never buy another Ducati. U only fuck with my wallet 1 time You Ducati arrogant pricks.!!!

Occasionally my wages catch up to their entry level priced bikes, but then the cost or rent goes up, or some other financial issue prevents me from seriously considering it. By the time I get the money for a down payment either nothing but the most expensive bikes are available, or they've announce another model that's much more expensive. You could try for the used market, but there are a number of scary reasons people ditch their Ducatis.

4:00 - yeah, like EVERY TIME i get on the bike 😄 I dunno - on paper the old one looks more "cruisey", and I thought that one had already nailed the balance between the cruise and the naked pretty well. Combine it with the price of the new model and the 1260 looks to be a better value IMO.

A guy had a brand new 2022 Diavel at my MSF course earlier this year. I love that he got his license on his first real bike...and that this was it 🫠. The bike is even better/crazier looking in person and is a head-turner. But if I was spending that much on a bike, I'm not sure it would be that...unless I had enough money that it was *one* of my bikes. I'd love to see the new one in the wild (I'd love to hear it, specifically).

I ordered one of these on the day of release, I wasn't sure my current red 1260s could be beaten but I was sold on the weight and then they threw in satnav and a cleaner rear with that seat cowling and I was sold. I can't afford the racing exhaust until I've ridden it for a year and when the insurance drops dramatically.

Enjoyable video review! 👏👏👏 IMHO I my Gen 1 Diavel Carbon Red, and in fact Gen 1 Diavels in general look much better. Seeing it at the show confirmed this for me. Can’t stand the look of the rear wheel personally and, as others have said, the price is “salty” to say the least. I hate to think how many combinations there are within the bikes set up for customers to choose from / get confused by / simply get wrong. I don’t doubt that the new V4 Diavel is dynamically better but would I notice in normal road use? Yes, Gen 1 suspension needs improving but it would cost nowhere near the cost to change bikes.

“Not quite as aesthetic as the previous model” is the understatement of the year. This Diavel hasn’t just been hit with the ugly stick it’s been bashed to a pulp with it. But then again, I always thought form and function should go hand in hand. This bike is style for the sake of style and nothing else.

I can appreciate the manufacturers claims on zero to 60 mph or 0 to 100 kph. I'm sure there are people you can get those claims but I'll tell you my zero to 60 mph at 3.7 seconds on my Thruxton R have beat quite a few of those bikes to 60 mph who claim below three seconds. Stock wheelbase bikes will eat up average to good riders when trying to launch the high horsepower bikes.
@thespectator5259
@thespectator5259 Жыл бұрын
Your probably going to get humbled if you think you will have fare the same against a newer Diavel like you do with what I am assuming you usually go up against (let me guess, 600cc class crotch rockets?) I get that you may be able to beat such bikes off the line due to their disadvantageous geometry (at least for drag racing from a dig) despite their *theoretical* 0-60 times. Indeed, to actually get a stock 600cc or even a 1000cc bike consistently within the 3 second range for 60mph takes a skilled rider, but Diavels are literally built different. They have MUCH longer wheelbases than normal bikes, have a lower center of gravity and they also use VERY fat wide rear wheels with a lot of grip. Unlike crotch rockets, a Diavel's inherent geometry lends to actually making the 3 seconds to 60mph quite attainable for even lower skilled riders. Oh and most of them also have launch control and TC. The Diavel is one of the rare few bikes where you can consistently get the claimed 0-60 times without stressing about flipping it over AND also be able to carve corners with it.
@flatcapcaferacer
@flatcapcaferacer Жыл бұрын
@@thespectator5259 Everything I race against has higher horsepower or better horsepower to weight ratio. Quite a few 600cc sport bikes, Rocket 3s, Zx1400Rs Harley Destroyers, Aprilia Tonos, Speed Triples, BMW S1000Rs, phase whatever Harley's, Suzuki Hayabusa, etc. It is almost impossible for me to beat most them in the quarter mile especially when then have the stretched swing arms and they are good. I've beat more than a few even when my ET is higher mainly from reaction times. Many new or inexperienced riders have reaction times of ,4 to .6 sec and my average is .06 which is a significant difference. Many times riders get flustered when they get jumped and miss gears, hit the rev limiters or both which helps me. If a bike ridden by an average rider capable of a low 11 or high 10 second quarter will beat me. Anything less than that is possible and in the last six years I'm 67-27 about 71%.

The previous Diavels were awful looking but this one looks awesome to me in a sort of anime way. If it hits with low rpm torque like a cruiser must have then I'd be sold, but if the motor makes you work all the time to be in the power then it defeats the purpose of a power cruiser. On my tight curvey roads where strait shots are short and rare, you need a bike that feels great pretty much staying in 3rd gear.

You can’t get 30k worth of enjoyment out of any bike , I’d wait 3 year and find a v4 diavel with low miles and all the bits I want on it ,!! I have an XDiavel. Test rode the V4. Love the smoother engine with no vibration or jerky character. But for me that’s the only plus. All other aspects like acceleration, braking, handling, comfort, tech, etc. are very minimal improvements, unnoticeable from the already great V2 Diavel. Looks wise, the V4 misses the mark. Some Diavel character is lost except for rear tire. Looks more like a generic super naked bike and in red, a jigsaw puzzle with 2/3 pieces missing. Black much better and hides all the plastic better. Cool exhaust though. But get rid of the cylinder cut out. Thats just dumb, Ducati, you can’t sugarcoat it. A mixed bag for me but not worth the switch from my gorgeous XDiavel.
