If they marketed these as scooters I think it would make sense, many riders who live in dense cities probably won't need much more power than what these rides offer. But arguing they should be seen the same as their other Ninja and Z bikes seems pretty pointless.

@Angel9932

@@Ramonatho The problem that can arise with buying from a smaller company is the lack of local support and the possibility of the manufacturer going out of business. Only downside I see is the price. I think many European parents will get one of these for their children as a first bike, in future white collar workers will go to work in one of these (as the range grows) instead of 300cc scooters. Rental electric scooters are very popular in Spain, in my school 1/3 or 1/4 of the bikes at the parking lot are electric. Before, you had to buy a no-name brand from a pop up store if you wanted an electric motorcycle. Now you have a reputable brand that will stand behind its product. This is only the beginning and I hope the prices come down as the market grows. If I was 16-17 and my choices were between ninja 125 and the EV, I'd pick the ev any day(actually I'd have taken r125 but still). ----------

Just get an E-Bike, infinitely cheaper and will do the exact same job as these bikes. Since it is after all, only good for city riding. You don’t need a licence for an E-Bike either, and if the charge runs low you can pedal for backup to get home. E-Bikes now have good range as well. You still have to muck with a chain on these Kawasaki bikes to.

I. Ran it’s interesting they are doing this but motorcycles do highlight best the very large issues facing electrification of transport. Just buy a miles cheaper Hunter 350. That nail will smoke this anvil, do at least 100mpg and you won’t have to recharge it every single day. Thanks Kawasaki for the answer to a question no-one asked.

So 2700 more but I wonder about energy savings. Small bikes use little gas but in the UK gas is expensive - not sure about electricity. I don't love the price but maybe when everything is factored in??

The only thing that honestly bothers me a little bit is the max speed. 100 km/h? Common Kawasaki you can do better than that. Most of the time 100 km/h is more than enough, but in some situations it will be a major pain. I just went for a little ride today because it was warm out and I rode 50 miles without even leaving my city. On my commute, in city, I’d need a charger on both ends of the trip. The battery takes longer to charge than it does to run it out. Nearly 4 hours to charge, on a battery that will die in an hour. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Sadly 40 mile range and 55mph max speed is a HUGE disappointment especially coming from Kawasaki that’s slower than a scooter but the scooter gets far more range. The Zero and a few other E motorcycles are way faster and have far more range even from the base model entry bikes. Whoever let this happen at Kawasaki should be considered a joke. This should’ve at least been able to have 100 mile range and hit 120-130mph. Either they’ll be providing upgrades for this or making a better version in the future but this is honestly a joke. Can’t wait to see what Honda does with their CBR-E versions as well as Yamaha. This is a huge disappointment you can’t even take that on the highway and most here are 75mph limits.
