Motocamping for the first time with my Harley Davidson Sportster!

I've always had in mind to try out Moto camping ever since I bought the Harley Davidson Iron 883. This year, I definitely wanted to make sure that I had plans, so I tag teamed with my buddies Tim from NevermoreMoto, and MotoJawn and we went camping in Antietam Creek in West Virginia.

I just bought that same Viking bag, about two weeks ago, The Dagr. I got the large thinking I needed the largest one 🤷🏻‍♂️. I don’t but it’s a nice problem to have. It’s a nice bag so far. Mine came with that extra top bag too, which is pretty massive itself. I took it to the store a few time and a small day trip to my home town about an hour away. Gonna be using it a lot.

Yeah I bought the large one not knowing how big it was really going to be. I don’t need that huge of a bag so I got a small one for an everyday carry. I found the small version on eBay for like $30, if you’re interested it might be worth it for you.

@@IronBornRider Uh, yeah! $30 smackers sounds great! I ain’t riding around with the large one all the time for obvious reasons. Even though it doesn’t overwhelm the bike like I thought it would and it’s great for going to the store. I immediately figured out a system to get it on and back off the bike in just a few minutes with the straps they sent. It’s a great bag, but I definitely need the smaller version to go with.

Trying to motocamp...When locating a campsite, do you make sure it's drive up accessible or what specifically do you look for. Unfortunately there isn't much public land out here in Texas so I have to go to state parks for majority of my trips.

I’ve only gone that one time but yeah I did try to find a campsite with parking available close to the site (hard to find tho). I had to check a lot of google reviews

I live in Hollywood California and I love my sportster for lane splitting in such a congested place like where I live. However I just got a job where I have to take a highway for a little under 30 minutes. Do you recommend that I get a 1250 or 1275 kit to make that highway ride a little more comfortable?

I would 100% recommend it for the highway. It’ll give your sporty enough power to accelerate quickly to pass any car if you need to.

@@IronBornRider doesn't the Iron have a 2.2? You can get a bottle from an outdoor store. That's what I carry in the mountains. 90ish miles is tough.
