26mm Nibbi carb comparison and tuning on the Grom clone Hellcat 125. It is way lager all the way around for performance, but is it needed on what I have now? Seems the Nibbi is a bit too much for my configuration but did as good as the Mikuni. I also test which jets will fit in the Nibbi carb
I ended up with a 120 main! After multiple test drives and adjustments.
Keihin jets will fit the Nibi
It doesn't have to be fast to be fun, Create your own adventures
Current video links:
Adjustable intake: amzn.to/2yoWxqb
Nibi 26mm carb: amzn.to/2WbIQ74
Mikuni 26mm carb amzn.to/2WJmhFU
intake adapter swing plate: amzn.to/3drWVTp
It goes pretty good for a 125cc bike (55 mph after tune), suspension is nice, braking is good. 0-50 mph in 19 seconds

I think it would be an awesome around town or city bike. Just like the clone it is not very fast

Great video with lots of tuning !! You did everything right ! 😁👍👍 I was going to say the same thing as another subscriber; I think at this point you are limited by the head's CFM with the small valves. About 25 years ago I did something similar with a radio controlled boat. It had a 22cc 2-stroke McCullough. I took the engine out and mounted it to a weed wacker shaft and line head to act as a 'dyno' and give it a load. A digital engine tachometer gave me "data". I tried 3 or 4 different bigger bore carburetors from various weed wackers and small chsinsaws. All had same mounting pattern, fuel pump diaphragm pulse holes, and Hi & Lo needle valve screws. No matter what I tried, the stock carb (smallest bore) gave the best RPM. So i put the stock carb back in 🤷‍♂️ lol. Hey I have the same DeWalt (rubbermaid) cooler as you, its over 20 years old I think. Serves me well on countless road trips thru VT and NH. Cheers from Saratoga!! 🍻🍻

I put that same carburetor on my 250 Hawk. I also upgraded the exhaust pipe. For power? The hills I used to go up and had to some times shift down into 3rd gear, now I can stay in 5th. I'm a big guy. 40 degree hill at an full stop in the middle of it, way no problems taking off. 45 back tooth and 17 front. For the engine? Only an oil cooler. No other modifications to the motor. Way more power then I will ever use. Only problem I had with the carburetor. Where I live I had to drop the needle to the lowest setting. Other then Idle Jet was to big. Dropped it down and then set my main jet. Hatted it at first. Now I love it. For sound I'm out doing the Harley-Davidson. Now they dont show off around me. I do. Just doing that I turned my Hawk into an really cool monster. Love the thing and that carburetor is yes a pain to get it set but amazing when it is. Take care.

Pretty cool little experiment you did here with the different carbs. I do like how simple they are, but it can be a challenge sometimes. You are right though, the Nibbi will be better suited for something that can move more air. The engine is nothing more than a pump... I'll tell you what would be cool, if they made some kind of fuel injection kit! That is the kind of stuff I'd like to experiment more with!

I thought the same thing on ours I have similar videos I finally got the nibbi dialed in and released a video on it they are so finicky. You have done almost everything right mine is on a ssr 125 so very similar motor. I personally prefer the cheap amazon mikuni over the nibbi. I had to run a 120 main and 48 pilot but if you have your air screw off by just a tad. These carbs run like garbage it may be because they are machines so nice that the air isn’t getting disrupted. I know someone running a 28mm on there ssr 125 and it runs great so too big in this case is not actually the case. Great video love the content just wanted to share my experience with you as well.

10x rule again for your intake. (Just like with the corrugated intake on ?Dumpie? was it?) That new carb has a much bigger throttle bottle bore over the stock intake. The semi-immediate air flow step down into the carb and possible out of the carb is experiencing a lower average air velocity through the carb then stock due to turbulence. You need a bigger intake if not also some porting of the head to run that carb.
@MotoCheez
@MotoCheez 4 жыл бұрын

Maybe put a long intake pipe to slow down the velocity, or a long intake pipe with a smaller filter. Also when you put a much fatter jet you need to raise the needle and adjust the a/f screw
@MotoCheez
@MotoCheez 3 жыл бұрын
I've tried combos like that with intake horns. Does work. Fatter jet doesn't mean you have to raise needle or mixture. Mixture screw is idle to 1/8 throttle roughly. The needle fine tunes 1/4 to 3/4 mixture, main jet is 3/4 to WOT. All overlap a little if course

Nope. Main jet is for 3/4 to full throttle. It's way bigger than primary jet which is part throttle to 3/4 roughly

yes to big a carb can be held back by the size of the intake port of the cyl head and valve opening .. at one point its just no return .. one hits the limit like you say with out porting or muffler to remove the burned fuel faster .. then throw in the cam design for chugging low rpm power through the low speed dirt ... air jorden's on grandma will not make the old cow run faster ...with out some meth/speed ..then the rods.. piston , rod brgs are at risk

Pretty sure the proper sizing, is the size of the slide! Small one is an 18mm second is the very popular vm22 which is a 22mm carb and in my opinion the best for a 125cc pit bike /grom clone! The nibbi is a 28mm and way to much carb for a 125 pitbike/grom clone

Hey bro I recently got one exactly like yours ...I got it really cheap because it won't fire ...I've bought 3 brand new stators and iv replaced and or checked everything that makes it fire and the only thing that I haven't changed is the flywheel....magneto....I'm just before putting another engine on itj...any ideas??
@MotoCheez
@MotoCheez 2 ай бұрын
Geez that's crazy, make sure that there is that little metal tab welded on the flywheel, that's what triggers the spark there's a separate pickup for that on the stator. Or I've seen it as simple as someone has the kill switch wire grounded somewhere in the harness
@dannyoutlaw8001
@dannyoutlaw8001 2 ай бұрын
@@MotoCheez IV checked all that ...I even wired up a brand new harness to it and still no spark ... makes me want to pull my hair out and I shave my head lol...but yea bro I'm hoping it's just bad stators .. when I check them with a multimeter they all 3 check bad and they are brand new....I'm going to try one more and a magneto to and if that don't work I'm just going to replace the engine.....I only payed 200 bucks for it because the guy was moving and he didn't know how to fix it
@MotoCheez
@MotoCheez 2 ай бұрын
@dannyoutlaw8001 weird that a new stator would test bad... Are you sure that the proper CDI was purchased? That engine has an AC style ignition, which means it does not get powered from the battery it has one coil on the stator that sends power to the CDI and another wire that is the trigger to tell it to spark
@dannyoutlaw8001
@dannyoutlaw8001 2 ай бұрын
@@MotoCheez yes iv tried 4 different cdi and they are all new and so are the stators... like I said I'm going to try one more stators and a new flywheel which is the mag...if it don't fire then I'm just going to buy another engine...I really want to put a bigger one on it anyway...
