A little info about me. My name is Andrei Bodrov, originally I'm from Moscow, Russia, and now I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Back in Moscow I was a motorcycle instructor and creator of Moto Control Beginner & Advanced motorcycle rider courses, which quickly became the most popular courses in Moscow (well, at least the advanced one😁). My advanced training course makes emphasis on slow speed riding techniques at first (such as good clutch and throttle control, proper riding posture, proper use of vision, etc.), then proceeds to more advanced techniques (such as aggressive braking, trail braking, maximal lean angle). The course incorporates a lot of exercises from DOSAF slow speed riding (similar to police rodeo like motorcycle training in USA), braking and cornering exercises and motogymkhana style riding. And now, since I actively learn English - I decided to post some useful videos for both your and mine practice!😉

Als Antwort auf die Kritik meiner Kritik mache ich es mir NUN auch mal bequemer und schreibe auf deutsch!!! (da dürfen dann auch die Nur-Englisch-Sprecher, die glauben, es nicht nötig zu haben, sich um ANDERE Sprachen bemühen zu müssen, diesmal mit beschäftigen). 1. Daß ich Andreys Tipps für ausgesprochen gut und wichtig wert schätze, hatte ich bereits klar benannt. Es ging ausschließlich um eine deutlichere Aussprache! Höchst wahrscheinlich fehlt Andrey (bei seinem ja ausgesprochen umfangreichen Vokabular) lediglich die Erkenntnis, daß er oft undeutlich beim Zuhörer ankommt, weil es ihm mangels Kontakt zum realen Gegenüber keiner benennt. Mir sagte man (als englisch sprechendem Deutschen) schon mal nach, dass ich Schotte oder Ire sein könne und gut verständlich sei.... I am going to ensure you get more traction Andrey. You are absolutely flawless and way way ahead of many other American and English speaking riders in KZbin. I actually belong to 2 large motorcycle clubs and I am very supportively sharing your videos with them. In motorcycling -like in many other aspects of life, really- there is not a reason to stop learning. Continuing Education goes along with every day we ride. Because nothing, absolutely nothing is ever constant and we ought to be learning new techniques and practicing every week. On one of your recurrent tips throughout your channel; building muscle memory is achieved by practicing in a controlled environment and often, so when the hazard presents itself we are better prepared to overcome it. I always force myself and advice others to do it too. Get out of the comfort zone. If it is in your bucket list to go for a long riding trip do not ride only on sunny weekends. Take the motorcycle out on rain, at night, when it is windy,… experience these adverse leas than ideal situations under the control of you knowingly and consciously doing it! Because when you go on that trip, guess what! Either one of those unfavorable situations would present itself and them your muscle memory would provide you with a better probability of handle it with more self-control.

What I've learned from also being a regular driver myself, is that being a good 'driver' also equates to being a good 'rider.' I'm talking about on the road. Because you understand cars and drivers more - their behaviors and tendencies. I pretty much ride my bike like I drive a car. This means slowing down before every intersection no matter if there's visible vehicles or not, knowing cars' blind spots (or buses and trucks for that matter), etc. So driving is also a good riding lesson. As absurd as that may sound. ;) I know there are riders who've never driven a car or have not clocked in sufficient hours driving cars. So they can't sync well with cars on the road. They're doing their "rider" thing but not all vehicles on the road are bikes like them.

Very good advice! What would be nice to see is if you could make a video showing you approaching and going through an intersection whilst commentating on your thoughts. So as you approach an intersection you say maybe something like "I see an intersection ahead, I heighten my attention, I check my mirror to see if I have traffic right behind me, I prepare to emergency brake if necessary, I tap my brakes to signal to traffic behind that they need to be more aware, I scan the intersection, find the right gear if necessary, proceed through the intersection etc." If you need to stop, comment that you roll off your throttle, apply some front and rear brakes, change to suitable gear, check for traffic behind, tap brakes to alert traffic behind, place yourself a little to one side of the middle if there is a car in front of you so you can swerve around it if the driver behind you doesn't seem to be stopping, etc. Then go through starting again, scanning the intersection, looking to the end of the intersection to see if anything will stop you from getting through it etc. This rolling commentary whilst showing us the view from your helmet would be an excellent way to learn! First Tip and most important rule: Dont expect that other trafficants STOP just only bec they have to stop. Drive that way the other ones DONT stop and give a sht about you. And same tip: Dont expect that cars on the lanes beside you will give you space, or change lanes in front or behind you..

The situation with the lo g truck plus the SUV at intersection. Being prepared to hard break at every intersection, has saved me each time. Very important to reduce speed and try to “forecast” every other car’s moves. Not forgetting to check mirrors, you don’t want a car hitting you from behind while he’s on a phone call. If doubt, break and let the moron do their stupid move.

Got caught early in biking by turner who didn't see me. Chose swerve as it was last moment. They drove into my foot which you can't lift high enough. Got squished between the car and the rear shock. What I learned was no matter how long and how much it looks like they have seen you and are waiting that's not always the case. A shattered foot and ankle is surprisingly uncomfortable for the first 2 weeks. Never underestimate another road users ability to catch you out. France has a system where the minor side roads have priority which is less safe than making toys from microwave transformers.

This is an excellent informative video! Something that I do at traffic lights and intersections is to actively turn my head in all directions - like a meerkat - not just look out of the corner of my eyes. It can send a message to drivers (the ones who are not busy texting) letting them know that I am watching them. Where I live there are no such things as traffic lights with countdown numbers, so If the light is green as you approach it at a distance, it will likely change and put you in possible danger from vehicles rushing from a stop, so decelerate and cover the brake. Your joke about Australia made me laugh 😄!

Hi, I am from India where traffic and potential hazards are almost everywhere at all speeds. Should i always cover my front brake with 2 fingers or should i develop the reflex of switching from throttle to brakes and not cover them before? Also, how many fingers to use for braking? I try to brake with 2 fingers while the other 2 stay on the throttle. Thanks!

Please judge if following tips are good advice or not, since I dont ride bike. There is a way to make sure the left turner sees you - by riding behind a car while going through intersection the car in front of you will act as an aid for the left turner to spot the traffic. Relative speed to other cars - match your speed with cars going same direction as you through intersection - the higher the difference in speed between traffic participants - the higher chance of an accident, also you can easier spot cars doing different speeds and focus your attention on them to see if they do something stupid.

Good topic. You missed the fact that you really have to decelerate on intersections to prepare for IDIOTS beating the traffic, idiots on a cellphone conversing or texting with their gf or physical sick or mental retards who intentionally just stop in the middle of the intersection, they exist as the video shows. Thank God I went to a driving school who taught us that. Always, always decelerate on intersections, your life and limb depends on that, specially if your on a bike and not riding a bulletproof tank or hard cover 4-wheeler, it saves you a lot of trouble.

First fragment, a speeding biker runs a red light, and you say the car failed to see the bike. This accident was 100% the bikers fault. It might have some truth in it, the intersections being dangerous, but an idiot on a bike is still an idiot, but with a bike.
