great format on this vid Josh. well done! appreciate you mentioning the Twisted air-box mod. buyers need to know the bog was not just a 2024 issue. those who are used to YZF low end grunt must now budget in the air-box fix if they want to make the most of the new bike.

@@herbcanter2114 watch the non main-stream ones where they don't do testing for a living and are not afraid to make bikes look bad. also note that this channel is the only one where the Yam never wins (KTM MXA!), so its no surprise they are the only ones willing to note Yam issues. the other shootouts have the YZF250 win every time like they are sold out somehow. so it's simple, they will never diss it.

Great video, thank you. A bit confused though. You compare the KX250 suspension several times, saying the KX has harsh forks compared to the YZ, but in a recent first impression vid on the 2025 KX250 you say it's plush. So I have to assume your comparing the 2025 YZ250F with the 2024 KX250. Would be great to clarify. Looking forward to the shootout!

Showa forks have always been notoriously stiffer feeling be it spring rate or valving than KYB. That said, KYB is widely known to have the best out of the box suspension on any bike. Ive ridden both Showa and KYB forks. I much prefer KYB. You can make either feel great for you though.

How is the engine backwards? It breathes from the front of the bike and the exhaust comes out of the back of the engine.

its 180 degrees from everyone else's bike. Airbox up front, air goes down straight into the engine, exhaust out the back. Everyone else, the airbox is under the seat, air goes into the engine from the rear of the bike, exhaust out the front, where it takes a 180 to get to the muffler. He should have said the engine orientation is backwards from everyone else's. Bad choice of words.

Idk if u can map the stock ecu on these. I think Twisted says you need an ecu for these and Suzuki’s. For $1500 they give u the mapped Vortex ecu and airbox mod.

I have a wr450f and it has the competition kit that comes in the yz450f. You can change the map and completely customize. Does the 250 not come equipped with that?

We noticed the forks are much stiffer on our 2025. Spring rate is like 2 steps stiffer. Low end is very weak. Tempted to try the TD Ecu & airbox, but you LOSE `1500 dollars, and you LOSE the power tuner app with this mod. Like one step forward and one step backward. sad you need to spend that much on a NEW bike.

Since like 2002 ive liked the styling of yamahas mx bikes. For the first time, i dont think theyre particularly good looking... it Looks like a fat platypus. & really wide for some reason. Reminds me of how crf's looked a few yrs ago. Not crazy about the upside down, backwards 90 degree reverse engine causing the gas tank to move as well as the airbox. If it aint broke, dont fck it up.

The all new bullshit for this year is an updated frame blah blah blah. Not much has changed since 04 in th 4t world. I can keep up with new bikes easily on my 450 04 yam. We even swaped bikes and its just updated for the collective world market. You'll be lucky if it fits you. Like buying a pair of jeans "one size fits all" load of shit.
